Update on remote starter

Just to update everyone about that remote starter I got. (the "oem" one) well I got thinking about it today and decided to give it another shot and trying to get it to work. I knew I had the install correct, that was a cake walk, but the remote still wouldn't turn the car on. After many people telling me I had to have the remote feature turned on in the computer I refused to believe it. So I went out and read the directions over and over. I registered the remote correctly after about 5 trys and what do you know, IT WORKS. The only downfall is when you open the door the car shuts off. kind of a security feature I guess.

As in your press the remote, the car turns on, then when you open the door to get in it turns off?

Shuts off to make you start the car, thus confirming you actually have fastkey fob, so someone can't just hop in and drive? That would be my guess. (assuming this is on a fastkey equipped RA? I don't know whether all trims in US have fastkey?)

yes I have the fast key RA, I don't mind that I have to restart it. atleast the car will be warm in these Wisconsin winters. I can't believe the dealership wanted 130 something bucks to do this.

I can't believe you can't open your own unlocked door and not have the engine shut off...

Its an option on the Mitsu site when configuring an RA. Tell them they need to learn their product.

http://www.mitsubishiparts.net/catalog/?section=741
tell them they're stupid as hell and should be fired.

OH yeah and whatever you hear about "you have to take it to the dealer to have the remote start feature enabled, no no no full of ****, I installed it without the dealers help"

If this is the case and you can't fix this, it sounds like you're gonna have to enter thru the window like in Dukes of Hazzard!!! LOL!!!

I have a '11 RA with a remote start function. I too don't like that it shuts down after unlocking or opening the doors. After some searching, there are reports that this is a safety feature that can be turned off. Though, I don't know enough about remote starters to even know where to look for this option. Any pointers on where I should start looking?
