2011 Mitsubishi Ralliart vs 2011 Hyundai Genesis 2.0T. Looking to buy either one.
I'm back at looking at a replacement car that will be a daily driver so it wont have any crazy aftermarket mods. It wont be taken to the track or anything of that sort, just something that is decently sporty and fun.
I have been looking at the Hyundai Genesis 2.0T and the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart for awhile now and would like to get some opinions from those who actually own the RA to help me make my final decision.
The thing bugging me about the Genesis is that it's only been around for 2 years, being a first gen, and the fact that its a Hyundai.
I really like the way the Wicked White RA looks but I have not driven either car yet.
Pretty much I'm asking you guys why you picked the RA over other competitors, ie a Hyundai Genesis or say a Subaru WRX. Now that you own the car, do you regret your decision in anyway or couldn't be happier?
Thank you

I dont regret my decision I love my Ralliart. I was looking at buying the Genesis but its rear wheel drive and I couldnt handle that again in the winter. I also looked at buying the WRX but the new 2011 wasnt out yet with the new body and my brother is going to buy that so I picked the Ralliart and I am very happy with my choice but I believe its the most expensive of the three.

Personally I don't like the way Subarus look. The Hyundai wasn't available at the time... I probably would of bought the Genesis Coupe over the Ralliart, and it's not like the Ralliart is in it's second gen. yet either. Don't get me wrong it's a nice car(Ralliart) but it's cheaply made, like most cars these days.

I bought mine because it wasn't FWD, has good power, four doors, and 0% financing. Also, when checking out comparison tests, I noticed it didn't win too many of them, but the reviewers always noted that it was more fun to drive than its competitors.
I'm like you, I'm not going to track it or go guano crazy with mods. This car is very fun to toss about at legal speeds, and seats four comfortably.

Just so you know, the mitsubishi warranty is basicly worthless. Ive heard many stories of guys with stock cars not being able 2 get simple things fixed (that should be covered by warranty)
So if your buying a new car so you dont have 2 worry about car troubles, and expect to have the dealer fix anything that might come up... mitsubishi might not be the best car for you.

I test drove the Genesis and is nothing like the Ralliart. They are 2 different cars by all standards. Largest difference to me is the RWD vs the RA's AWD. BIG DIFFERENCE! The Genesis has a very unique look that is quite attractive. The Ralliart does as awell. When is comes to power the Ralliart takes the cake no problem. I found myself having much more fun test driving the Ralliart then the Genesis.
Down fall would be that the Ralliart does not come manual. But i have learned to love the SST and now know i will never miss a shift.
As for warranty, dont buy a car based on that. U buy a car on its reliability. U shouldn't have to worry about a dealership honoring waranty or not. This is of course u don't mod the **** out of the car! Just my opinion.
About 2 weeks ago i saw a blue 2.0T Genesis ripping it on the streets here in Ontario. I followed him (didn't tempt him) until i finally got to a red stop light. I was so pumped because 3 days prior i reflashed my ECU with GST's 93 Oct + Bosst pill + V2 map and was now pushing a lot more power. I look at the guy while stopped and see that his girlfriend was sitting there. He gave his car some revs not knowing i was going to destroy him. All i did was wink at his gf because in was on his right side and as soon as the light went green i was ahead of his car just after 2nd gear. I made him and his car look so stupid. Im sure he wishes he didnt have his gf in the car lol.

I have to highly disagree. The preformance is very different. I believe the Genesis is doing 0-60 in 7.1 and ralliart 0-60 in about 5.5. Ones AWD, the other RWD.

Also, the 2.0T in the genesis is NOT the same as the RA. This thread does some good explaining the differences: http://www.rwdcoupe.com/2-0-turbo/52...art-evo-x.html The 2.0T didn't seem to have any ***** in stock form...
The 2.0T Genesis is very impractical. I came from a Ford Probe junker hatchback with at least some utility. The Genesis should have been a hatchback imho. The backseats make you bend your neck if you're above 5'9" to 5'10" and the trunk is not very big. Also, I'm not sure what I saw in that bitter beer face on the front end. The shark-mouth grille of the RA is way more my style. For Chicago, AWD>RWD, but you may not be in my climate...Besides the stupid spoiler on my RA, the RA has superior visibility - just a virtue of the sedan vs sport coupe but important nonetheless.
I will say I think Hyundai has come incredibly far. I wouldn't worry too much about their reliability, I think they're solid. In the end, choose whats right for you.

Also, I know the 5.5 # is thrown around but high 5's to 6 sec is what I keep seeing. Still pretty good though. Personally I like the side and rear of the Gen a lot better. Too bad it's not a hatch, for some reason I thought it was.

another thing that you may want to take into consideration is insurance. RA will probably have lower insurance because it's a 4door (5door if you elect the sport back) and automatic. Coupe's and manual transmissions tend to run higher in insurance for any given car...
Either way, you'll want to talk to your insurance people, and without a doubt test drive both cars before you decide; test drive both of them as many times/much as possible before making the decision.

I almost got the 3.8 genesis coupe... I guess I'm happy with the RA however mines mostly stock haven't had the money to go mod crazy. Overall the gen coupe is a lot sexier and has that appeal but the RA is fast and more practical I guess. EVeryone thinks it's just a lancer so you're kinda under the radar and stealthy.
