A sobering reminder that every car has limits
Day old what looks like Evo X from what I can tell. My thoughts are with the young mans family and the friend that was with him here in Central Indiana.
Arcadia, Hamilton County - A Purdue student home for Christmas break was killed in a high speed crash Wednesday night on a rural Hamilton County road. It happened Near 256th Street and Lacy Road in northern Hamilton County.
Nick Ozolins, 19, marveled over the hot wheels his friend purchased early Wednesday. By 11:30 that night, he was ready to take the Mitsubishi Lancer for a spin. But police say speeds in excess of 100 mph on a dark country road proved too much to handle.
"Lost control, went off the roadway on the north side struck a tree. The vehicle rolled several times, was inverted several times, and came to rest in the field," said Sheriff Doug Carter, Hamilton County.
Ozolins, the driver and a freshman engineering student at Purdue, was killed on impact. His friend and Purdue classmate, 19-year-old Ryan Gushlak of New York, suffered minor injuries. Gushlak was able to free himself from the wreckage and call for help.
Ozolins' parents, who are known in the community for their volunteer work with youth football and church programs, also rushed to the scene.
"I heard about it this morning, and I just. I couldn't believe it. It's terrible when you don't expect something like that to happen. It's really tough," said Marcus McMahon, childhood friend.
"They've got a very tight faith based group that's around them right now. And we'll take it a day at a time. A step at a time," said the sheriff.
Toxicology reports are pending. Investigators believe the accident was the result of excessive speed.

Driving over 100mph in a car your unfamiliar with on a slick country road in the middle of winter with summer tires. I did the same stupid stuff when I was 19. You think you are gonna live forever at that age. My prayers are with his family. RIP

I'll be the dick here.
His parents bought him a ~300hp car and didn't think he'd be reckless like any other teenager with a car? RIP or not, they brought it on themselves.
Does Darwin strike again?

RIP...
What bothers me the most is that this was avoidable in every way. Summer tires in the snow? We need to get some education out there... it bothers me how people can aquire a license in the USA without knowing snow+ summer tires= death. I know 100mph doesn't help, but winter tires would have given the kid a fighting chance.
