Couldn't say for sure. The sound is different when accelerating, but I think that's more of an UICP thing. Feels like there's more torque in the mid range, but without a dyno I couldn't say.
To be fair, I didn't buy the FMIC expecting to see a performance gain from it. I bought it to support the mods I'm doing in the future. If the FMIC provides gains all by itself, bonus!

Done! Not the nicest day today, so the lighting isn't ideal (especially with the camera in my Samsung Galaxy S...)

Haha yeah it makes it look pretty mean. Especially mean if people know what an intercooler is, and can tell right away yours isn't stock.

How did you change the chrome ring and the lower lip section directly underneath the ring to black? I like it and want to do whatever you did to my front end...Also, how much does the AMS FMIC cost?

There are a couple of options ... You can remove the front bumper to get to the nose ring or you can try what this user did (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/09...-o-bumper.html). If you just do a search on the RA forums, you will find quite a selection on this topic.

I bought the AMS IC & upper pipes combo for $900 after tax. I haven't gotten around to installing it. But I am wonder what others paid for it.

Thanks, but my questions were directed specifically at the OP. Can you chime in SudzRA?

For the ring, I removed the bumper and then removed the ring, then coated the ring and the lower lip with plasti-dip. In Canada plasti-dip is available thru home hardware, but in the States I believe you can pick it up at Lowes or Home Depot. I followed the two body lines on the underside of the bumper for doing the lip. Look under your bumper, you'll see what I mean.

This job can be done, as posted above, without removing the bumper, but I did because I have a heat dish that I used to cure the plasti-dip. Normally I would have brought the heat lamp outside and done the work with the bumper still on, but the weather wasn't nice so I brought the bumper into the basement. I wasn't about to drive my RA into the basement.

I used 4 coats on the ring, and after 6 months of abuse (and a good Canadian winter, which included crossing a snow covered lake at 100km/h), I have only one spot on the ring that needs a touch-up. I used less plasti-dip on the lip, and it needs to be removed and redone (plasti-dip can be peeled off like vinyl).

I bought the AMS FMIC and UICP combo from AMS for $970.
