Engine: Yes!
SST: Not servicable... scary thing to think of if keeping for 10 years
AWD system: Yes! if maintained properly

The RA is a solid car. The SST being non-servicable might hurt the 10 year keepage... if anyone is thinking of it

just because Mitsu can't service the transmission at this point in time, doesn't mean that it will be "unserviceable" to all parties forever.

I'm certain that as the EvoMR and Ralliart platforms mature the serviceability of the transmission will open up to 3rd parties...

If you know of a machine shop, the whole Tranny can be machined to spec.
all the gears shaft. its the time, taking all the parts & measuring each component & a donor SST. Cost of rebuild or machining might not be cost effective because of the time it takes to take things apart & machined & put back together. If the shop is setup to do such task it can be faster (time-wise) & cheaper (cost-wise).

I was going to bullet proof my last car transmission for $8k. Kinda glad I didnt because I got electrical issues & only starts when it wants to. I hate electrical problems.

I keep my fingers-crossed & hope to keep it around for as long as I can, maybe over 10+years?

Definately... i agree completely. I hope for you SST guys that they start to build re-enforced trannys that you can buy and have shipped to your doorstep... just like GM crate motors!

pretty sure we have "stronger" components right now... just not every aspect of the SST is being discovered yet.. read: Electrical/Software/TCU

I'm trading mine in at the 7 year mark, just before my extended warranty expires. The SST being the main reason.

Been there, done that, in terms of having a car with expensive components outside of warranty. I had my 1988 Porsche 928 S4 for 12 years, and I don't wish to drain my wallet like that ever again

I would keep this as a winter car perhaps, but if it isn't my full time winter only car, I'd say no. Plus no warranty sucks.

I have mine on a 4 year lease. Was going to get a new one but with the RA prob discontinued then not sure if I'll keep it even though it has a 5 year/ 10 year warranty.

I don't see why not. I kept my last Mitsubishi for ten years. Traded it in and it was still on the road in 2010 'til the guy that bought it got some shoddy modification work done to it. It is now a very large paper weight in his garage.

Most likely yes, unless Mitsu comes out with a nicer RA/EVO. Which I'll just trade in my current RA.
