Cams.

Anyone here installed cams yet? I was thinking of getting some and wanted to know what brand and if anyone had some sound clips?

Thanks in advance!

I just put in GSC stage 1 cams in. All you have to do is measure the clearance of the valve tappets, do some math... and order new tappets with the right clearance pretty simple install. Well my motor was out of my car, probably made it a little easier. I don't have any sound clips but you can definitely hear a rumble. It doesn't sound like a cammed cobra or corvette but it does sound nice Just make sure you find out if the cams you get need upgraded springs or not. The GSC stage 1 did not so I used stock springs.

When I go to the EF2 or 3 I will be doing AMS cams. I'm doing the swap in a few months, maybe less. Most shops well tell you that you don't need them. Cobb Tuning won't upgrade your turbo without cams (anything bigger than a stock X turbo).

Why ef3? Crazy impressive turbo. I was going to go BB green but i was advised BB isnt a necessity on ths sst tranny. ef2 spools like a stock x turbo. ef3 spools like a jb green, and so on. It also has a mean flat torque curve.

Why cobb tuning intercooler pipes? One peice pipes are always better than two peice pipes. More couplers mean more restrictions. Plus the cobb pipes look sexy as all tomorrow.

Why AGP intercooler? Youd have to be an idiot not to go bar and plate, plus for its surface area its worth every penny.

Why 500hp clutches and not 600hp? Per SSP, the 500hp clutches last a whole lot longer. Although the 600hp clutches grab harder, ssp has the ability to make 500hp pack grab just as hard. Longevity > Overkill.

Why the MAP downpipe? Price is lower than its competitors and it still does the job. A tennis ball can also roll through it without question. Plus i miss setting off car alarms. When i upgraded the intercooler and went to E85 the ultimate racing exhaust just wasnt doing the job lol jk. And btw, the ultimate racing exhaust is crap, i cant begin to tell you how many people ask my why my exhaust tips look uneven all the time.

Why the MAP shortrunner manifold? It does the job, nice spool, and it can fit under the oem heatshield.

Why thermal coat and port everything? Duh.

Why 1200cc injectors? Ive heard people here in dallas tell me how they constantly max out there 1000cc injectors on an fp green. Better safe than sorry.

I was advised the walbro 255 fuel pump should do the job, so im not gonna go to the 300 or 400.

AMS cams. Why? They are kelfold made, just AMS specific. Cobb doesnt recommend a turbo upgrade without cams. Yes there are gains over the stock cams.

3 port Solenoid boost controller? Yes. Why? Because boost pills are retarded. The 3 ports do a crazy good job on these cars. Its worth the extra $80 over a boost pill any day.

I plan to do a motor build in a year, which is why im going ef3 instead of ef2.

Keep in mind FP doesnt do journey bearing turbos anymore, only ball bearing and they are each $2600 now. Not worth the money for sst tranny cars.

I'm getting it e-tuned now by SSP. I put in a lot of things (BBX full, 1000cc injectors, AGP intercooler, ect) so its a lot more powerful than my last set up. Its a pretty simple install

This how to for cam install really helped me out, (thanks hollywood x!) Its pretty simple just make sure your cam to tappet clearance is good.
