09 Ralliart Code P0011 Help

I recently got a check engine light I took it to vatozone and they scanned a P0011 which is cam postition advanced something or another.

I did some searching and all I can find besides what the obd II suggests is people who have recently done cam work having this problem. My RA has around 40,000 miles and the only mod is a k and N airfilter. She runs the same as normal no weird sounds or hesitation. Anyone else had this problem? or anything like this happen?

Thanks for any help.

Could be a positioning sensor. Is it the cams or camshaft?

I cleared the code and drove about 20 miles last night and it didn't come back.
I went out to start it this morning and as it started it made a funny noise then wouldn't start. As I cranked I hit the accelerated pedal ans it finally started . It sounded like something was rattling and was running very rough. I shut it off. I will call a tow truck to take it to a near by shop. The closest motel dealership is 250the miles away so that isn't an option.

I heard back from the shop yesterday. I broke a timing chain and a guide. Looks like 2000 dollars and a week for parts. Only 40,000 miles on this car mostly highway, no abuse. Needless to say I am not happy. It will be trading it in for something else within the next month. The last Mitsubishi I ever own.

Sorry to hear that. I believe the timing chain is an issue with the 4B11s.

Because of one random failure that is covered under warranty anyway? Why are you paying 2k if it's covered under warranty?

The dealership I bought it from shutdown and the closest one to here is 235 miles away. I am needing my car back asap. I have been talking to a case worker but they say it has to be a dealer to fix it under warranty. The thing I am mad about is a reliability thing.

Unless you are buying a book, nothing is perfectly reliable (and even then there is a chance for paper cuts). Hence the reason for this amazing invention...warranties

What I am saying is that this random failure could happen with ANY car make, and like any car make, would be covered under warranty...

You choice not to get it covered under warranty is your choice and your financial loss because of it, once again, is your choice. You would be in the same position if it where another car make, with the same type of random failure.

You can't just throw your arms up, subtract personal responsibility from your life by not using the warranty and then call Mitsubishi crap.

The dealership offered to fix your problem under warranty and you chose not to and you are angry?...................

There are warranties for a reason.

Just to be clear, you do know about the 5 year/unlimited miles road service, right? They will tow your car to the nearest dealership for free and give you $100 per day for car rental (I think it's $100, could be $75, could be $125, need to double check the exact amount).
