Trailer hitch attachment to a ralliart
#5
I saw people talking about it but I want to see pictures of it mounted and how its mounted. I think the hitch will benefit me in the long run. Thanks for the links omegis but the second link is like 4 yrs old and the links are broken within the post.

I know you could pull a motorcycle with it. My ex's mom used to tow her huge *** goldwing behind her FWD base toyota matrix to and from B.C. Our cars would have no problems. If you google Ralliart/EVO X trailer hitch you will find a company called etrailer that makes a bolt on one for our dual exhaust. I believe it is called their Draw Tite hitch and it is bolt on.OR you can get an aftermarket single exhaust and get the one for the regular lancer. Most of them are good for 2000-3000 lbs, with tonque weight of around 200 lbs. Not many options for the dual exhaust hitches though. You could also build one if you wanted to get creative. There is a great how-to on this forum. Good luck!!

Necromancing this thread since there's very little information out there it seems.
I just added a hitch receiver to my RA SB this weekend. I got a "Reese Towpower 88001 multi-fit receiver". This kit is available on fleabay and shamazon for a price that's slightly above the cost of the raw materials to build your own.
It took some very minor modification to make it bolt right up. I had to drill 1 hole new hole, and ream out/elongate another. The kit came with super beefy washers (1/4" thick) to reinforce the mounting holes. There was some clearance issues with the exhaust tips of my Magnaflow 3" cat-back exhaust. I had to flatten the bottoms of them a bit. Smaller exhaust exits (e.g. stock sized) shouldn't be a problem i don't think.
Mounting per the instructions had the receiver hanging pretty low. So, I flipped the cross bar over and mounted it with the 1-1/4" receiver on top of the cross bar. This put the 1-1/4" receiver just behind the rear valence ("Cover Extn" according to Mitsu's parts catalog). I had to cut a 1"x2" notch into the center of the "cover extn" to expose the receiver and allow attaching hitches to it.
Finally, mounting the receiver did require removal of the stock tie down loops. I used the bolts that held the stock downs to the chassis to mount the receiver.
