intercooler upgrade

So I just recently bought a 2010 Ralliart and I notice it heats up pretty good.. So I was thinking about upgrading the intercooler and I see that the Evo's are a better upgrade from what we have. So can I simply swap any evo intercooler to mine? Sorry but I am a newb to the turbo game and I know if I go to a dealership they would just bend me over for my money

The evo x ic is a good cheap upgrade to the RA one. The only thing you need are silcone couplers as the in + outlets on the evo ic are larger. Very easy to do yourself - there are how-to's on the site + others

I'm actually doing the same thing. Will it create turbo lag? I'm sticking with my stock turbo on my RA. Also, will I notice a difference in anything with a larger intercooler?

I have an evox FMIC, piping, and BOV. I don't think any of it added power. I think most of itsets the conditions for better tunning, more boost. Did also get a Cosworth dropin air filter, that might have given me a small HP bump, nothing I can really feel tho. I don't think there will be a noticeable difference until the ECU flash.

Next thing for me is a wideband but that's proving to be a b*tch...

Cool. If I change the piping from the stock to aftermarket , is it worth it?

I've heard it will be better going to a aftermarket pipe because stock is a mesh type and will expand. Some one chime in if I'm wrong please

A aftermarket hard pipe for the UICP is supposed to give you better throttle response as none of the boost pressure is spent expanding the hose. The oem evox LICP is already a smooth hard pipe. The RA LICP is a cheap small plastic thing with a weird bend, worth upgrading I think...

Cool. Is there a company that sells the piping?

There are a few companies that do.

Ultimate Racing, AMS etc check out Lancershop.com for brands (never brought through them though - I just use them when researching what brands are available for item 'x' - so I have no idea on their reliability etc etc)

I'm sure a bit of research through evom will give you an idea of what people have used. I personally have the UR UICP + LICP with the evo IC on my RA and very happy with them

Maybe more throttle response. Upgrading the intercooler more so prevents loss of power produced rather than creating it. Explained in this thread/post:

I think I will just end up getting the UR UICP + LICP. Just waiting on the EVO IC.

Also is this a simple "plug and play"? I don't see why this would need a tune or anything but I rather ask.

You won't need a tune with just the IC and pipes, but you may find it a little bit lagger, not much though
