Looking at a 2009 Ralliart
How's it going everyone? I'm looking at a 2009 Ralliart with 73,408 on the odo. They gave me an out the door price of $15,100.

How does that price sound to you all? I'm going to test drive it tomorrow and talk some numbers so I just wanted a little insight.
Thanks a bunch!

My 2009 RA has 119,000 miles and I wouldn't sell it for anything less than $14,000. You are getting a fantastic automobile. It will take you everywhere, you will get looks, and nothing compares to the mod-potential if you desire one day. Pull the trigger!!!

How many miles do you have on it now? I'm hoping its safe to assume that these cars will make it a good while if properly maintained. That's really the only other issue I'm struggling with.

They are known for transmission problems, SST is really expensive to replace. If you manage to get a newer one with warranty that is safer.
My 2009 Ralliart had the transmission replaced at around 70,000km
If it already has been replaced though, it might be ok.

Also, if you maintain the sst correctly, you won't have any problems. Change the fluid every 30k. Buy the aluminum sst filter from SSP and clean that each oil change. No worries but spendy. With the 2009-10's there are three drain plugs rather than two with the newer years. Not sure why they changed that but personally, id rather have more drain plugs than less. If your looking to push more than 340who ish, be ready to drop a few G's for parts for the SST. Go for it, sounds like a good deal.

I almost bought a used 2013 RA from a dealership, but that was before I read up on the RA and learned just how much goes into owning a high-performance car like this.
Besides the regular maintenance, things like improper/extended brake boosting can cook the tranny fluids and cause huge issues down the road. Even simple things like not allowing the turbo to properly cool before shutting off the engine will eventually take its toll.
I asked the salesman straight up, "so who owned this car before (sex, age, race, etc), how long did he own it for, and why did he sell it?"
His reply, "early twenties asian male, owned it for 8 months, sold it so he could "trade-up" for an WRX." ....
Needless to say, I did not purchase the car... as I'm sure this kid had no clue about cars in general, it worries me to think how much damage someone could do to a car like this in as little as a year.
But that being said, I compare buying a used car to playing Roulette. Even when you know everything about it, there's still that chance of getting the shaft because there are too many hidden variables.

I would have to agree with you on that. Warranty is a good thing to have. i bought mine new in 09, drove 100 miles highway to get it home. Next day i went to get gas and i threw a code. Torque damper was sticking. I couldnt notice any difference how it drove, got a new tranny. Not trying to scare anyone away from buying a ralliart haha. My favorite thing is pulling up next to an evo at a light or highway and walking them. Look on their face is priceless cuz its a ralliart with the plate BABYEVO haha
