Fuel type
Hey guys, so I've had my RA for a couple weeks now and I was wondering what are other Canadians using as fuel and whats best?
91 octane no ethanol or 93 octane with ethanol?
I've read a couple other forums and the answer seems pretty unclear, I'm not looking to squeeze performance out of my car I just want whats best for the engine.

the RA has a minimum rating of 93, but 91 can be used but with reduced performance since 93 is not available everywhere. straight from owners manual
RALLIART
Your vehicle is designed to operate on premium grade
unleaded gasoline having a minimum octane number of 93
[(MON+RON)/2] or higher for optimum performance. In case
premium grade unleaded gasoline 93 [(MON+RON)/2] is not
available, unleaded gasoline number of 91 [(MON+RON)/2]
can be used. However, the performance level is reduced.
In order to maintain exhaust system durability, premium
unleaded gasoline having an octane number of at least 91
[(MON+RON)/2] must be used.
If the premium grade unleaded gasoline number of 91
[(MON+RON)/2] or higher is not available on journey, etc.,
regular unleaded gasoline having an octane number of 87
[(MON+RON)/2] can be used temporarily as an emergency
measure.
MON: Motor Octane Number
RON: Research Octane Number
Ethanol (Gasohol)
A mixture of up to 10 % ethanol (grain alcohol) and 90 %
unleaded gasoline may be used in your vehicle, provided the
octane number is at least as high as that recommended for
unleaded gasoline.

I've been running 91 for the past 3 years and have had no issues. Never tried 93 or higher as I don't believe I'd notice a performance difference. Could be wrong but since I use it as my DD and don't track/rallycross having a few extra hp/tq wouldn't be worth it. Anyone with a more expert opinion to support or contradict me?

Husky 94 with 10% ethanol (Extra ethanol helps reduce knock)
Only thing i fill up with.
EDIT: I know when i use to live in BC there was Chevron which had a 94 or a 93 that had no ethanol... (Correct me if I'm wrong) and that must be a true 94/93 then... because the husky 94 isnt a true 94 because it uses the extra ethanol to boost its octane rating.

I live in BC and only fill up with Chevron Supreme Plus, 94 octane with no ethanol.
The dealership filled it with 91 octane when I bought it and I noticed the car was more responsive and peppy when I put 94 in it.
Personally I would rather spend a couple more bucks per tank and keep the engine running cleaner. From what I've been told ethanol creates more carbon buildup and should be avoided,

(Somewhere on the east coast it is exempt... can't remember where)
