50,000 KM Maintenance $1,800
I have 2009 Ralliart and it’s getting close to hitting 50,000 km (around 30,000 miles) the maintenance cost seems really high $1,800 CDN (1,400 USD) so I am trying to figure out what should be done and If I can do it myself.
Things already done:
1. I manually replaced AWC pump + new ATF Fluid myself due to pump failure
2. Replaced power steering fluid
3. Replaced drive belt from recall SR14-009
4. Dealership replaced both rear differential seals due to leak
A. Replace Engine Oil / Filter - I am fine with this
B. Mitsubishi Turbo Inspection (items 1-4) - Don’t need can probably do this myself.
C. Check and Service Exhaust System - I can do that myself.
D. Replace Air Purifier Filter – don’t need already did this about 10,000 KM ago.
E. Replace Drive Belts – Already done as part of recall
F. Replace Engine Air Filter Element - Already done replace with K&N Filter.
G. Replace Rear axle oil (for differential part) – Was this already done in #3 above?
H. Replace Transfer Case Fluid – Will have to probably do this or was it done in #3 above.
I. Replace twin-clutch shift-sportronic transmission - Do I have to do this? It’s only required in “severe” maintenance. I don’t meet the requirements for severe, it’s only daily driver. Under regular maintenance schedule it’s not required until 60,000 miles / 60 months or 96,000 kms, but it has been 60 months – this seems likely to be the most expensive option.
J. Replace differential fluid (torque transfer part fluid) – Was this already done in #3 above?

Transfer case fluid is still due from what I gather from you posted (above). It is quite easy to do yourself.
Yes, I would expect the TC-SST fluid & filter to be due as well. Again, from what you posted it sounds like you could tackle this as well.
Even though they 'added' A/T fluid (?) it would still require a fluid change.
The big cost driver in the 50K KM service is the tranny. The TC-SST Fluid is made from the distilled tears from disaffected Pandas (and the pandas have been happy) so be prepared to pay ~$300 for fluid and filter you buy yourself. But! You save more than a grand over the dealership doing it, so go for it!

After taking to the dealership
All I need are:
Transfer Case Fluid - $165
TC-SST Fluid - $665
Total = $830 CDN (625 USD) + Taxes
I guess it would about $250-$300 for labour, the rest would be just material cost.
If I change it myself.. Can I expect it to take 3 hours - this is my first time.. so I expect it to takes about double what it takes the dealership.

$665 for the SST Fluid change actually isnt half bad. Stealerships in Edmonton charge over a $1100 with labour.
