Winter tire help

I need to switch to winter snow tire setup asap --

-I'm shopping for winter tires to put on stock 18x7 wheels (ideally 215/45/18)

-Really wanted to get the bridgestone blizzak ws-60's but the closest the come in for 18" wheels is 225/40.

-Would those fit the stock wheel/ Is there anything better for winter tire?

Only other tires i've looked at that i've considered are the
Michelin X-Ice Xi2 that i can get in a 215/45/18

Any help/suggestions are much appreciated thanks in advance

1) there are 3 types of winter tires: winter performance, unstudded and studdable. what u get depends on what sort of winter u hv.

2) typically u want skinnier tires than stock, but it depends on the width of ur rims.

3) if ur RA can take a smaller rim, i'd go for it. saves $$.

did u look at tirerack yet?

I would sacrafice with 225 WS60's if the x40 height would fit on the stock 18x7 which im unsure of.

not interested in the LM blizzak series, not looking for performance, looking for studless snow traction

I've checked tire rack and don't think the ws-60's will fit the stock wheel.

I don't want smaller wheel i want to use my stock

unless there's a fitment issue with 225/40, i dont think u can go wrong with either the ws60 in 225 or the xi2 in 215. they are both highly rated in the category you are interested in.

Today is my first day driving on the 215/45/18 Xi2's. We're supposed to get a ****-ton of snow tonight, so I'll report back tomorrow.

225/40R18's would be sitting a little low.

Ideally the closest thing that would keep the odometer and speedo stock is 225/45R18 and there are a TON of tires to choose from in that size.

It doesn't matter if they're winter tires or not, price is the same.

For a standard balance + mount is anywhere between 15-25 per wheel + disposal + tax, etc.

I have the XICE2s on mine and they have been good so far. Tried them on a little ice and went fairly well considering! So you will most likely be happy with them. =)

Can't remember how much I paid though. Got them from Discount Tire who price matched Tire Rack.

I just installed 205/60R-16 Continental ExtremeWinterContact XL on 16" steelies. Got them from TireRack for $618 including shipping. They come mounted and balanced, but had to install myself.
