Need Recommendations on new tires

Hi,

I'm looking to get all-season tires for my '09 Ralliart.

I've narrowed it down to:

Pirelli PZero Nero (Ultra High Performance All-Season)
Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum (Grand Touring All-Season)
Dunlop SP Sport Signature (High Performance All-Season)

I'm having a tough time deciding which one to pick. I've heard good things about the Pirellis, but they're expensive as compared to the Kumho and the Dunlops, which also have good reviews.

I was planning to get 225/45(Z)R18's on the stock rims. Looking at some of the other threads, it should just be a straight swap, although I've heard that some 225's are wider than others? Is that a problem?
I've also heard that the Ultra high Performance tires are not so great in wet conditions.

Out of these, the Pzero's seem to be the quietest and best of them all.

Another tire you want to look at that's gotten nothing but rave reviews, especially in bad weather, is the continental dws. I know in tire rack brake and slalom tests, the tire did BETTER in the wet than dry and blew away all the other all-season tires in the snow incredible.

The Continental's are amazing for all season. My friend has them and has nothing but great things to say.

I hear good things about the Kumho Ecsta from the evo section. It's supposed to be a good all season for winter.

All-seasons are no seasons, putting all-season tires on a supposedly performance oriented car is like making a ballerina wear boots.

Yes, if you want your Ralliart to act like a fat man in a tutu, buy all-seasons.

To the OP I realise we all have to live with compromise. But how much snow if any do you see in Virgina?

Here is a good article
http://www.insideline.com/features/t...vs-summer.html

You know your area best and how you drive. I am just wondering if summers would be better?

Cheers

If he's from Virginia, there will be snow right? I wouldn't run summers in the winter, ever. Even on cold days they can be sketchy. Seriously, you bought a 30000$ performance-oriented sedan, spend the extra money on dedicated summers and winters.

I think those DWS' are second only to the Pilot Sport A/S (but have much better treadwear and way less expensive IIRC)

Consumerguide did a review on all season tires in the snow & ice (even my Nokians) and the Michelins came out on top with the DWS in second and my Nokians a bit further down the chart.

However, I've had bad experiences with Continental tires so I went with my trusty Nokians.

I cannot link to the article anymore (it's now only for paid subscribers) but here's the autoblog link that talks about it:
