need major help with tire stuff :(

I have a 2009 Lancer Ralliart, I have decided to go with the Sparco Pista's, 18x8 (they dont have 18x7 or 18x7.5) BUT... i want to keep my stock tires cause i like the yokohama advans.

Tirerack is where im buying the rims from, in the notes it says that a 225-45 tire is recomended and that the 215-45 tires will look too small, does anybody have 18x8 with the 215-45 tires?? I want to know how it looks, rides, and if it rubs.

Also, if i keep the stock tires, i wont have to mess with the TMPS right?

And the last thing.. these Sparco Pistas are 45mm offset, im not sure what the stock offset is on the Ralliart but i dont want to mess with anything, i dont want any rubbing or speedometer throw off. Sorry if i dont know much about wheels i just need some help from the mitsu gods out here thanks guys

TPMS = wheels dependent ... unless it does not fit in the Sparco .. otherwise it should work the same..

My friend has a GTS with 8in wide rims and OEM tires... doesn't look too bad...

That offset *should* work fine w/o rubbing..
last reminder... ur TPMS would work.. if it can be mounted on ur new wheels...

you be fine... the speedo will be off by a tad bit... as long as all 4 tires are same size and brand the model the AWD system will be happy!!!!

a 215 on an 8 is a slight to mild stretch. I ran 215 on an 8.5 on my GTI and it wasn't super aggressive.

and that set up shouldn't rub. I'm running the same offset, but an 8.5 and 235s and I only rub on medium to large bumps.

Thats a 215/35 on an 8 (your will be slightly less stretched)

Thats a 215/40 on a 8.5 (yours will be a lot less stretched)

The TPMS is built directly into the valve stem. The sensor is attached to the bottom on the valve stem and sticks to the inside of the wheel. Just have to unscrew it from the stock wheel and screw it into the Sparcos, so it should work. You can run a 215 on an 8" wide wheel but it will be slightly stretched. Honestly if you can't get wider tires now, when the stockers wear out which will be very soon, get a set of 225's which will fit much better. You could even run 235's on them but it doesn't seem like you would want to take any chance of slight rubbing and so forth.

I'm running 235 with 8" rims with 45 offset and lowered. I had my fenders rolled but I don't think I really had to. I had the TPMS moved to the new wheels with no issues.

I just had new wheels installed keeping my TPMS. I had my work done by Discount Tire. They requested that I purchase the TPMS rebuild kit which is like a washer and the nut or something along those lines. They said they might be able to install without the kit, but if the TPMS had issues they would have had something to point fingers at. Since it was $10 per TPMS/wheel, I included that in my work. So be preparied to be asked about it.

this is correct. you should always replace the washers and nuts when mounting TPMS on new wheels or else they won't seal right and leak all the time.

Everyone here is right. BTW since you are on a budget if u really need good affordable tires I suggest Nankang NS-1 or 2. Yokohama makes good tires but the stock one are bad.
