Tire recommendations

Hey folks, need some feedback on new tires.

I went from the OEM Crapohamas to the Continental DWS, and while they are nice in all types of weather, the ride is just unbearable at times. The sidewall is way too soft, and it really throws off the handling especially with these coilovers I have on the car. That, and the response of the tires sucks. Definitely not made for any spirited driving.

So, I might go the route of having a nice, affordable set of summer performance tires and get a set of steel wheels with snow tires for the winter. My current wheels are 18x8's, and a 235/40-18 tire fits perfectly, which is the size of the DWS currently installed. I am looking for a good performance tire that won't wear out quickly with proper camber/toe settings, has a stiffer sidewall, good wet weather handling, and affordable. I can't spend $200+ per tire, not in my budget.

Dealer got me the 245/40 18 Nitto NT555 for $150/each

I'm liking them so far but I've only put maybe 100-200 miles on them

i've just got a set of r-s3 from hankook and loving it so far - nice and grippy with a stiff side wall. also noticed they have a squarer tread and a touch wider than my previous tyres of the same specs. ($207 for the 235/40 and $210 for the 245/40)

These tires are only good for about ten to fifteen thousand miles from what i hear but reviews regard them very highly for performance value. Especially in the area of traction. If you are looking for more sensible tires hankook v12 evo are well reviewed.

Toyo T1 Sport. Just got a set. I forgot how greatTtoyos are. So solid, very predictable. Prices are great to. I have gone thru about 20 diffrent types of tires in my years of driving. Toyo always beats everything, by a lot. They only ones I didnt like are the FZ4, sidewalls are way to soft and they are noisy.
I will post a full review in a few weeks on the T1 Sports, once I get them broken in. But just for refrence, Its been raining every day here for a week. I hade the bald Yokos on. Threw on the Toyos as soon as they came. For the first 5 or so miles they were worse then the bald Yokos. After 30 miles now, wow, the grip gets better and better. They have a quite ride, and handle bumbs and such a little better they the stock Yokos. But they are so predictable. when pushed really hard, they let go so nicly. The car goes into nice controlled 4 wheel drifts now. Now suprises, and, when you want the car back, just a little stering input and its perfect. This is only after about 40 miles. I will post in a few weeks again.
Just be aware even if rotated they are only going to be 15-20,000 mile tires and the last few thousand miles may not be so fun.

i wish! that price was from tirerack - ended up costing me about $350aud from my local motorsport tyre dealer - a little more expensive than if i imported and fitted them, but he gives me track support so worth the extra coin

Im running Cooper Zeon ZPT only because they were on sale at the time. I am actually surprised at how good they are though! I paid $80 each at the time for 225/40/18 size. Since you are in Canada you should be able to find them cheap enough.

The Pirelli PZero Nero is a good street tire, in wet and dry street driving.
