tough choice between tires...

was looking at either getting a set of general gmax as-03 tires or a set of pirelli pzero nero all seasons. both of them seem to perform at about the same level with the pirellis gaining an edge on dry surfaces and the general tires pretty much unparalleled in the rain and snow. was curious to see if anyone has ran these tires and what their thoughts were to help me make a more educated decision. I live in coastal GA so there really isn't any snow to worry about but it rains a crap ton out here and wanna make sure i have the right tires for the job while on the track as well as hauling my wife and daughter around.

ran pzero nero on my mazdaspeed6 and they were good in wet conditions. ran continental dws on my evo recently and i think they performed better than the pzero nero. My 2 cents, try the continental dws, they work really well.

Neither, all seasons are no seasons.

My personal opinion is have a set for winter and a set for summer, if you can afford it. I ran NT05s last summer and loved them. They also did well in the wet until they got bald.... but that's any tire.

For all seasons, You can't go wrong with the DWS... but no all season will give you the performance of a dedicated summer/winter tire.

I bought 4 gmax tires few months ago and all I can say they are amazing for the price. Two trips to Canada in the snow storm without any problems. Great in the rain too.

thanks for the input so far, but one thing for all you guys saying buy the DWS. general is owned by continental, and they made the gmax to outperfrom the dws. buying a set of summers and winters is absurd here in coastal GA, we don't have a winter hence why i'm looking for all seasons. probbably going to end up going with the generals, i have a close friend that has run them on his 350z for a little over a year now with no noticeable wear at all after burnout contests, autocrosses, etc.

My good friend has always been fond of the Goodyear Eagle GT's for All-Season's on his Bimmer.

I unfortunately have no experience with performance all season tires. So take it for what it is worth.

If you're in Georgia, why not look at a set of summers that can handle rain? It seems absurd to me to have a car like the Ralliart and then disable it by putting all-seasons on it.

What ambystom said. I had some Continental DW (not DWS), and they were amazing. Super tacki, but softer sidewall than the factory Advans on the Evo X. Not meant for snow, but if you don't have snow in that area, I'd just get a good Dry Wet combo.

A tire I just purchased (still waiting on powder coating on my wheels to mount) are the Good Year F1 Asymmetrical All Season tires. Supposedly do GREAT in the wet and are pretty decent in the snow.

This. Will the car ever see snow or temps at/below freezing? If the answer is no, go with a solid summer tire with plenty of water-expelling channels and call it done.

I have autoX'ed on my Hankook V12's in the rain and absolutely loved them. Take it out on the highway in torrential rains and never lose confidence. Being in the Chicago area, I have a dedicated set for winter ice/snow, though.

08lancer89 also has run through like 2 sets of Nitto 555's in FL weather and he seems to like them a lot as a multi-purpose tire. Maybe you can shoot him a message and get his impressions.

The Bridgestone RE050A PPs are supposedly pretty good. Dunlop is coming out with a replacement for the Star Spec so that's an option. I don't know enough about Georgian weather to know what the temperature range is that you require.

Looking at new tires for my 2011. Came with Firestone Oval Indy's, ugh wet of course not traction with ultra summers (put in snow mode to grip), they even suck on dry, don't feel confident.

I've been running Conti DWS on my Legacy GT for the past year+, NorCal no snow, love the dry and wet grip, never a confidence issue. I've run it hard and fast in the rain and never loose grip unless it's around this one particular curve where the pavement is ultra slick.

Of course I'm eating up that rubber pretty quick, no way I'll hit 60k on these tires, but that's what a warranty is for.

i will seriously look into this. i've been stationed here for almost 4 years now and have yet to see snow, lots of rain being right by the coast though. do you have any recommendations for summer tires that can handle rain?
