Nitto NT555 or Toyo Proxes?
I need some better tires than the no name garbage that's on my car now. I'd prefer an all season since in northern AL we do see some snow and ice in the winter but not a lot. But the other 90% of the year I'd like a summer tire lol. Yes I want it all jk. Anyway of the two in the title which would be the better all around preformer and not wear out in six months.

My vote would be on Nitto's only because I use to have proxes on my other car and 3 of the 4 wheels developed bulges on the side walls because of the lack of reinforcement. But this might be a rare case of bad batch of wheels. It just left a bad taste in my mouth for Toyo.

Another recomendation around the same price range with the same tread\speed rating are the Sumitomo HTR ZIII's. They have been really good tires in the 245 /40/18 size and are $20 cheaper a tire. This will be my second Summer on them but I think I will have to replace them next summer.

I'm running 18x8 wheels with 225/45-18s. Both are around $520 delivered from DTD. So it's looking like the Nittos are winning. Anyone else like to chime in? It'll be about 2-3 weeks before I order them. Doing rear struts and swift springs first.

Aren't the NT555 summer performance tires? It is highly advised against running them when there is any snow or ice. I think you're not even supposed to run them when the temperature is below about 40° (some say lower), but that's not as important. The compound just isn't as good in cold temperatures.

They are a summer tire. I never had this issue when I lived in Florida lol. What would you guys recommend then for quality all season that has grip for around $500ish from discount tire direct? The guy I spoke with there recommended the nitto motivos. Anyone have ecperience with those?

For quality all season, I still stand behind Goodyear Eagle GT's. Great grip, long life and quiet ride. It's rated as a High performance all season tire, so you're not going to get the grip of the Proxes or anything of that caliber, but good value. When I ran 225/45/18, each tire was about $180 CAD all in. Lasted about 110,000 km before I had to swap them out.
I'd love to hear about the Nittos, they seem to be alittle more per tire ($30-40) for the same size, but if the gains are significant, I'd consider them. Proxies were alittle on the crazy expensive side for the lifetime. Only got about 60,000km out of a set of the Proxes.
