Don't run stock pill with boost-pill tune.
Don't run boost pill with stock-pill tune.
Don't run with scissors!
Don't run in the house!

To be honest, I'm not sure if changing maps is the best way to approach fuel efficiency. I think you can do that by changing your driving... which is probably the big difference, anyway - your own reaction to having more grunt available!

Like, most of your commute will be in closed-loop - the ECU targets stoich 14.7:1 mixtures via its o2 sensor. Stock vs. GST map switch won't change that at all.

For the acceleration parts of the journey, you can aim to revise your driving style for max fuel efficiency. Can do that perfectly well on GST tune.

But I'll admit, once the GST map was installed in my car, I stopped caring about how far a tank got me....! No self-control at all...

Got reflashed today to 2.5. So far no CEL anymore (but Houston has warmed up again so probably useless input from me lol)

shifts are definitely better now. I drove a stock RA at the dealership for a customer the day before and I was jealous of how it shifted compared to the overly smooth v2 shifting. Thanks a ton for the update, definitely like this better!

I know everyone here is talking performance, but I drive my '11 Ralliart everyday to work and I've been told that this basemap also evens out the Air/Fuel ratio for better fuel economy as the stock flash runs a little rich. True or false? If I were to flash the 91 Oct without boostpill, can I still run 93 without problems since 91 is not as common to find or should I just stick with the 93 oct flash?

If 93 is more common in your area...I'd say stick to 93? Fuel economy can easily be increased with a driver mod. Though the basemap does lean out the A/F a little bit, it really just encourages spirited driving. If you can hold yourself back, I'm sure there are some MPGs to be gained with it.

If you have 93 readily available in your area, than use 93. Last week I flashed in the 93 base map for the stock pill. Took a trip for work that I just took two weeks prior. Both trips I tried to get the best mpg humanly possible. I got 22.9 on the first trip, and 25.4 on the Bryan's 93 base map (stock pill). The key is the driver mod, especially on these maps. Just coming into the office last week, I got 22.2 driving slow steady speeds, but 17.1 on another morning with slightly heavier traffic...and I was running a bit late to begin with, so I took advantage of the opportunity when traffic would open up. Of course this is going off the display, and not *actual* mpg.'s...

Gotcha, thanks guys. This is my first FI'ed car so between tuning and learning about the turbo, just trying to clarify things.

How safe and reliable have these basemap flashes been?

What is your area? You have to be careful how Octane level is measured where you are. Standard fuel is 87 Octane. So if 91 Octane is hard to find where you are it might be because octane level is measured differently.

I don't remember the details but countries like Autralia display a much higher octane level than USA/Canada for the exact same gas.

It's all 93 octane for premium everywhere around me. Some select gas stations, however, do have 91 octane as well, so four different choices of gasoline... 87,98,91 and 93 all at the same station.

Ok, good. Then you'd better use the 93 octane map. You'll get a little bit more power than with the 91.

But it is safe to run the 91 map with 93 gas. As long as you gas octane is higher or equal to the octane for which the map was made.
