I just read a post from Golden about this - using the ECU Options "rear o2 disable" method will in fact disable the heater circuit in that rear o2 sensor...
...which will cause it to be damaged...
...which undoubtedly explains why Bryan hasn't got that change in the default TBE maps.
Link here!
Personally, I'm a bit annoyed at myself for only becoming aware of this now.

Rich, some Balance 20 feedback.
After driving with it for a few days, I can say this is probably the best one I've personally driven. The shifts in Sport are very quick and do have some "shift shock" to them, but nowhere near as bad as the first version of 2.6, that was horrendous. I haven't been able to test the 1-2 gear hang since I've been sitting in traffic a lot this week.
Normal mode feels very comfortable, no shift shock. They're still a little quicker than the stock map, but not as quick as Sport obviously. I now drive in Normal for the first few miles to let the transmission warm up enough before driving in Sport. I can't vouch for Auto mode in either shift modes, I drive Manual 99.9% of the time.

I also need an explanation as to how disabling the rear o2 sensor will destroy it. The heat from the exhaust burns it? somehow I don't think that makes sense. What does it do to protect itself from exhaust heat already without being cooled from some other source. As far as I am concerned it is just sitting there not in use.
EDIT: I think the guy in the post you linked is from mexico and does not know English well. He probably misinterpreted Golden s post wrong.

There are two ways of dealing with the rear 02.
One turns the internal heater off and therefore sudden heat can destroy the sensor.
The other turns off the actual code check. This is the better one.
I'm glad I have a 2010, the second one works just dandy and I have been CEL free for 20,000 miles.

Hey Rich,
I'm the owner of a new 2012 RA - Titanium Gray and love it.
I'd like to thank you for giving theses to the community, that is sick.
I can only imagine how many hours you've putted into this.
I know there is probably some of the answers to my questions somewhere on the furum, but I for sure did'nt find them.
1 - From a warranty point of view, is it safe to flash and put back OEM for dealer visits ?
( I got extended warranty and would not like to ruin it)
2 - Is there any chances that cold cause a problem with it ?
( I live in QC City and it's really cold during winter. I know I could put back stock for winter)
If there is no issue with being "caught" for warranty, i'd be another guinea pig
Thanks
