How to make 300/300 on an RA?
#46
Would I be able to achieve 353whp/300 wtq going a different route.
ie. Stock EVO X turbo setup
800/1000 cc injectors
upgraded fuel pump
upgrade fuel lines
upgraded waste gate
weight reduction
EVO X Cams and Rods
I think this might be a more expensive setup but I'm trying to see how it would be possible to achieve the same whp that can be achieved with an FP Red turbo setup?

Stock EVO X turbo setup = AMS made 305 wheel HP 309 wheel torque on this.
800/1000 cc injectors = zero power gain
upgraded fuel pump = zero power gain
upgrade fuel lines = zero power gain
upgraded waste gate = hold more boost to redline... sort of like a boost pill upgrade
weight reduction = zero power gain
EVO X Cams and Rods = same exact parts already in your engine

I know you are a newbie here, are you a newbie to performance cars in general?

But, TTP was able to make 350 + hp with a larger turbo (FP Red) than the stock X.
800/1000 cc injectors = zero power gain
The stock injectors are good enough for the EVO X turbo, but if you go to anything larger than an X turbo, 800 are probably necessary. I don't know that the stock injectors can support 350 + whp.
upgraded fuel pump = zero power gain
Again, only with a larger than X turbo.
upgrade fuel lines = zero power gain
This would be more like the fuel rail, but only with a larger fuel pump.

Keith, I would have answered a bit differently:

All fuel system upgrades are supporting mods. They don't do crap on their own, and will not allow him to make more power with the EVO X turbo than you make with the stock fuel system on the EVO X turbo.

You know, I reread his final question, and I see why you answered the way you did. Outside of anything else, he just needs to know that no, the stock EVO turbo can't produce the hp #s of the FP Red.

You can get more power out of the X turbo. Meth injection is a way to get a lot more power.

For a daily driver, 300 WTQ is more than enough, that's more than 100 over stock. A lot of people on forums get it through their head for one reason or another that they simply must have an arbitrary power level (using 300, 400 or 500 WHP) with little understanding of what that much power actually entails. 300 WTQ makes for a very quick car, quick enough that you'll rarely be able to use it and you won't be driving at WOT nearly as much as you do now.

High boost is way out of the efficiency island on our stock turbo, so lots of heat is generated. Meth injection or E-85 are great under those conditions.

Thanks for all the info Guys, I have now changed my mind. My previous future plan entailed upgrading to a FPRed as I will be entering my car in multiple events over the next few years from Ice racing on lakes in the winter to solo sprint racing at the track with a few trip down the 1/4 mile just because I,m curious but for the most part this will be my daily driver. I love my corners and making even returning the movie to BlockBuster a rali event so My future now sees me simply doing the Evo X upgrades Re: Turbo, Intercooler and piping along with a cutom intake and exhaust system to achieve 300 WTQ.
Thanks everyone and Happy New Year.

The FP? Meh. I'm not going to argue with you there.

A lot of really good responses to my original questions. Thanks much.
Now, what happens if E85 is added to the mix?
How much power/trq would a Ralliart make on E85 with basic bolt-ons - TBE, intake, FMIC, MBC, DV, and of course, fuel pump, injectors, and tune?

OK, so, put another way, what would be needed in addition to fuel pump, injectors, and a tune in order to make 300/300 hp/trq with a Ralliart running on E85?
I'm not really trying to see how much power a certain parts combo will make. I'm still trying to find the simplest and least expensive path to 300/300 on a Ralliart. I just happen to think using E85 to get there would be the least expensive path, and would not require a turbo upgrade. The numbers 300/300 hold no particular magic, it just seems like a reasonable level of power that so far has not been detrimental to the SST.
Plus E85 runs cooler EGT's, less turbo efficiency degradation in the hot desert (Tucson is in the desert), and it greatly satisfies certain geopolitical views I hold dear.

Maybe there is maybe there isn't a better turbo for our cars out there. Everyone is gonna have their opinion and reasons why that they like a given turbo. The bottom line is the Evo X turbo upgrade is basically a bolt on solution with proven dependability and well documented. It can be duplicated over and over with a known increase in performance at a resonable cost.
Yeah I wanted an Evo X but the Rali art was what I could afford and Yes I am going to have fun upgrading it my self. Nuff said LOL !
