Sounds like you might have an air leak somewhere on the intake. Make sure everything is tight, that sound is the turbos blades spinning backwards, no bueno. If you still have that you might wanna go back to stock. Oh, make sure you have a tune with that intake! That might also be the issue. I'm sure someone on here will chime in and help out.

there is no air leak. He is hearing the wastegate flutter when it opens and closes.

The intake if installed properly will not cause the sounds, and our stock turbo doesnt surge unless your pounding on it at 2000 rpm in 6th gear at like 45 miles an hour.

A tune would be beneficial, but telling vplukas101 that is like beating a dead horse that you dug up after it was buried for 3 years.(he should know and as has made the decision to not care already)

because after awhile people grow tired of your criticism and insults and people don't tend to listen when confronted with remarks by people like you

you are a stain on a otherwise great forum and suprised you have lasted so long with your bs and fanboyism

next time, hopefully you get kicked to the curb by the moderators because you offer little insight as well unconstructive criticism to every post as well as personal insults to a rather valid questions that is not warranted

though no one is willing to listen to hard-headed know it alls that throw everything into the "get a tune, it will fix everything" bucket

so far as I seen you have thrown just about every available horsepower mod into your car to get where you are at currently, with no regard to how it will handle at any limit because it probably won't translate well from wheel horsepower to the ground and you won't admit that beyond engine mods you will need hundreds if not thousands in suspension, chassis and brake mods to do so consistantly with reliability that many stock cars can do already

Im sorry that you have yet again crossed over into a forum, that discusses a platform you know nothing about, and then have attempted to exact some sort of hate mantality against me without first looking through months and months of discussions that have happened previous by many members on said topics and others.

The simple fact, with the 09+ ralliart is that a tune is REQUIRED for any form of intake. you simple run a risk regardless of the lack of knowledge you posses, of engine failures due to lean fuel trims. Our car is set up leaner then the evolution, and has less wiggle room when it comes to additions that add air flow. Even TTP was able to figure this out, after having a ralliart on the dyno untuned with an intake running in the 13's afr. Search conical intakes BEWARE.

As for the insult, im not insulting him. Im saying that he knows that a tune would and should be used with this addition. Hes been and seen the discussions before. Additionally, he was the genius behind removing the snorkle on the stock intake for audible effect.

Lastly, unlike you, i understand our platform very well. Infact, i would bet money i understand the evo 8,9, and X platforms as well or better then yourself. I spend a great deal of time in a mitsubishi club, full of my closest friends of years, which consists of, you guessed, numerous modded 8's 9's and 10s. not only do i help with work and additions, but im who is gone to for advice, having owned a force inducted car for almost 10 years, and done almost every mod and change you can on these cars.

the only person who is making insults is you. Furthermore, they are completely out of contexts, having no knowledge of the back story, or where or how something said might have been first written about.

Sounds like you are just hearing the blow off valve.

he mentioned flutter though, and i do remember when i first got the car i heard the wastegate flutter audibly about 500% more.

Either or i guess though, neither being an issue. I would strongly suggest having the car tuned though, but that point has been made.

This is completely normal. Like stated before, what you are hearing is the By-pass Valve (Blow Off Valve). The BPV on our cars recirculates air directly back into the intake system, not out into the atmosphere like those on loud turbocharged cars. By decreasing the restriction in the intake, you have allowed more sound from inside the intake to escape out. Again, this is completely normal.

I'll second that.

As soon as I installed my K&N panel filter, I could hear my BOV.
