Question!!!
So I realize this is a really old topic lol but I'm having an issue....I have a 2010 RA and I live in IL. Have a hfc installed and had no "service engine soon" light on since I put it on and installed the hfc. It was installed at a shop and was tuned a couple days later. I had to go pass emissions and it rejected me twice due to saying the cat was "not ready"... went to the shop and they said IL standards change and they just had to tweak something. They did and I left. About an hr of driving later the light went on and the car was acting a bit erratic. Called shop and went in next day. They checked it and added the spacer on there and cleared the codes. I left and again after an hr of driving light went back on. I scanned it and it gave me p0420....it lists it on there 3 times at the bottom of one it says "CONFIRMED" next one "PENDING" and third one "PERMANENT"...called the shop and they said they haven't come across a situation where the spacer didn't fix the issue. One thought I had is could this be caused because my muffler is disconnected from the actual exhaust pipe and this is causing unexpected change in air flow? it is basically spaced with long bolts to give the exhaust better sound. If not does anyone have any other ideas?
As far as mods:
HFC
Boost pill
Tune
Aftermarket uicp, licp
Evo x intercooler and bpv
Thanks guys!

The tune told the ECU to ignore the second O2 sensor (why you had no SES light).
If the ECU can't sense the second O2 sensor - it will say 'not ready to test' when queried by the emissions people. If you reset the ECU codes - you must drive 100+ miles to be "ready to test."
So when the Tune re-engaged the second o2 sensor - you got a light. They added a spacer and they reset it. You still needed to drive 100+ miles before getting emissions tested again (once the light stays out ).
The emissions testers 'should' also perform a visual check (and see your spacer/non-fouler) and fail you at that point. Ask others who go through the test with similar equipment. GL!

Yeaa lol problem was light went back on after spacer was added again...so i just put stock cat back on and gonna drive a while then take it in to pass and swap back to high flow cat and just gonna have to bite the bullet and do that every 2 years lol...oh weelll the cost of havin more fun than stock !!! ;p

That's weird. I live in IL also and I'm running a test pipe with no code after throwing my spacer on. Which one are you running? I have the Vibrant one thats shaped like a J. Not sure if me running the basemap has anything to do with it though compared to your tune?
They don't do visual inspections here in IL. All they do is hook you up to the computer and run their program. Your car can be smelling like *** and still you'll pass if you have no CEL.

i simply connected the two heater wires to the front 02 heater wires and made up a resistor/capacitor combo (i found on google) for the rear signal wires and had my tuner turn off some either some codes or the rear 02 all together
my rear 02 has been removed for nearly a year or more and no codes
