As some of you already know, I had a horrible experience lately with a local tuner (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/09...ror-story.html).

I have been driving the car this week and noticed a couple of things. I have been getting lower than normal mpg (about 2-3mpg less) this week. In addition, I am hearing a constant hiss from the engine when I'm at about 50-80% throttle. It's a constant hiss but it doesn't seem to be there when I'm at WOT.

I was thinking back to my tuning experience and remembered that one of Tobz's "quick fixes off of the dyno" was to load my stock tune but lower the boost since there was still a boost pill installed.

I'm wondering if he saved that over my stock flash and in his haste to get me out the door put that onto my car instead of the stock program. I no longer have a boost pill installed. Does this make sense or should I be looking for a cracked BOV / boost leak somewhere?

If I do need a correct stock flash of the ECU can someone please help me out? I know I'll have to order a Tactrix cable (yet another expense to get my car back to stock). Is there some way I can check if I have a true stock ECU flash vs. a modified one?

I don't trust Tobz anymore and so going back to him isn't an option.

constant hiss from the engine? or from the turbo? mine was constantly hissing until the turbo finally died.

 

It sounds like a constant hiss from the BOV. It the same sound that my car had when the tuner reduced the boost levels while I had the boost pill in. It doesn't make the sound if I keep the rpms low. Slee256 was nice enough to give me his copy of a 2009 stock flash so I'll be able to load that to see if it goes away once I get my Tactrix cable in. In the mean time I'm taking it easy with the car.
