over boost issue?

so i was running the 93 oct stage 1 cobb AP map on my stock 2010 lancer ralliart

i was having issues reaching the peak boost of 18.5PSI so i asked a tech at cobb tuning he said i could try installing a boost pill and it might help me with said problem but to watch my boost levels carefully as i might overboost and to remove the pill if overboost occurs.

and i did i took the car out for a spin giving it two quick acceleration and the car hit 19.9 and 22.2 PSI on my access port (i then relised my boost gauge was most likely faulty as it was reading 2-3PSI lower than what the access port was reading so no need for the pill)

i took the ams pill out put stock pill back in, flashed the car to economy map then back to the sage 1 9 93 oct map, gave one quick acceleration car still over boosting to same levels

i uninstalled the access port and again gave a quick acceleration and again car over boosts

is it possible the stock boost pill is directional and i installed it backwards?
(the only thing i haven't tried yet)

so i'm keeping the car out of boost till i figure this out

i also tryed a different vac line for my boost gauge line so i tee'd off the line going from oem tee that the boost pill is attached to what looks like a relay that has a second line going right into the turbo inlet.... boost gauge didn't read anything so i unistalled the boost gauge tee from that line, and replaced that line with a new peice...

any help greatly appriciated

Is there another way to read the boost, other than through a gauge? for example driving the car, can one feel over boost. Perhaps hear it?

Hey robyn,
I am having a somewhat similar thing like you going on. Let me ask you, do you have any exhaust components at all? I was running stage 2 maps with my full tbe, and not hitting boost targets...at all. Flashed back to stage 1 and now I am hitting 20psi consistently with stage 1? Very odd, I have been talking with Cobb about this, Pm me and let me know who you have been talking to. I would like to find out more about your issue and see what ours have in common.

I have an important question. The OEM pill has two different sized ends. One larger, one smaller. Which end faces the tee, larger or smaller??

i had the larger end facing the tee and i was overboosting... i switched it so now the small end is facing the tee... so far no overboost.. cars been peaking at 18psi like it should instead of 22-24psi
