valve chain

Hey hey,

So my wife's ralliart got a check engine warning and when we brought it into the dealership they said it was the valve chain and it was stretched.

They said it was due to aggressive driving??? Wtf!

The car is less then a year old and they said they don't know if its covered by warranty!! Anyone have this issue before?

Aggressive driving? It shouldn't matter how hard you drive a stock car. Can they prove yoi drove it hard? If ir breaks it should be replaced. I did a lot of work on my camaro years ago, I accidently dropped her into 2nd when it should of been 4th oops. I blew a piston rod and damaged my block. I heard a nice loud pinging noise after and it got faster as rpms increased. My trans, engine and rear diff ( for other reasons) was replaced. I got the invoice, 19k if i remeber correctly in repairs covered under warranty and all i paid was my 500 dollar deductible. Fight it! You will win! hopefully. and good luck.

There is a TSB out about this, and a video on YT. This should be covered under warranty. I think the tensioner goes bad or something.

so we got our car back, and nothing was fixed!!

after a 2 days in the shop they said they ran tests and the timing was within specifications and the chain wasn't stretched ..

so they just put it back together, reset the computer and the check engine went away, so far it hasn't come back yet.

they charged us $50 for inspection!

ARGH

I would send a letter to MMNA or MMCA, and let them know what happened. You might end up getting your money back, or some other compensation.
