Question 93 octane tune and using 91 octane is it bad?

What can happen if I have a 93 octane tune on my car and I put in 91 octane?
Can something bad happen?

you could, in theory, get ping/knock, depending on how aggressive the timing is for the 93 tune. Ping/Knock = the air fuel mix detonating prior to the spark plugs sparking = bad. Potential blown engine if the ping/knock is bad enough

knock is bad

If you hear knocking on the tune, flash to the 91 tune asap...

some might say flash to the 91 tune anyway just in case

go get gas from husky in the meanwhile. They have 94 with ethanol. That will tie you over.

As I told you over the phone, drive slowly, don't push the car and come have flashed with GST v2 for 91 octane!

Usually, if you get a significant amount of knock, you engine will switch to a low octane fuel map BEFORE you blow your engine... You can still do significant damage if you constantly drive under full throttle but if you stay out of boost you should not have trouble.

I went to sonoco yesterday to fill up half a tank of 94 oct. I will stay with the 93 tune, add octane booster the next time I fuel up and just fill up with 94 all the time I wont go WOT until I can.

Thanks guys and fyi the car is running great, it even starts better then before and fuel economy has gone up quite a bit

Why would you add octane booster if you're going to start using 94 octane from now on?

I'm going to put some octane booster because I'm sure there is some 91 octane left in the tank. I fueled up with half a tank of 91 left yesterday.

To make it short I want to be on the safe side
