There are a lot of RA owners running non OEM fluid, we would be seeing a lot more threads about it if it was an issue.
It just comes down to what your comfortable with.
[$179 for non-oem fluid + oem filter ] VS [$300 OEM fluid and filter DIY]

I think the important part is to change it ASAP after 30k. and put the correct amount in.

There is a write up that the fluids were tested by a member and our oem fluid has more phosphorus so it dosnt heat up as much and break down. http://www.clubralliart.com/showthre...?t=4063&page=7
So yes the fluid does matter stick with oem to make the sst last longer

no one said anything about more phosphorus is better because it doesn't heat up as much. lol. I will call blackstone labs to get a more definite answer. Their comments were a little bit misleading.

How well has the Ravenol fluid working for you? I am tempted to use it.

So I emptied the old fluid from the case (2 bolts on my 2011) and from the lower cooler pipe. (some more came out of the bolt closest to the front of the car when I did this). I got about 6.5L
The old fluid was a dark gold color. The filter was black but not fully clogged in any way. I replaced with new filter and housing and new fluid.
I used the measure and fill method as my 8mm socket+angled ext was not going to work. (anyone know what kind of tool can get to the fill bolt ?)

The Ravenol fluid is gold and smells exactly like the factory stuff.

Started the car back up and let it run for about 3 minutes and made sure there was no leaks, and touched the cooler hosed to make sure the pump/filter was doing its job.

The SST seems to be going strong and I already have 1k miles on it with no issues.

Did you remove the wheel? I don't recall what I did exactly, but I think I opened the fill level bolt with an allen key by hand. Some color language was exchanged, of course.

Yeah, I think my allen key was to long , might buy another 8mm one and grind it down for next time.

That's right man! I had to grind mine and you didnt have to remove left front wheel as well. It's awesome!

Any reports on how the ravenol fluid is holding up? I think I'll be doing this in the spring
