UR Exhaust defeat drone?
Hey guys. I've had the UR Axleback for a couple months now and I'm quite satisfied. The aggressive, deep tone sounds great and although it's a little on the loud side, I don't mind it. At highway speeds (60mph-75mph) while in the driver seat, the drone is bearable and almost unnoticeable with music on. However, I recently sat in the rear seat and realized how intolerable the drone is for passengers--to the point where I can't have a conversation with those in the front without yelling.
I know there are plenty of guys running the UR exhaust whether it be the turboback, catback, or just the exhaust alone. Just looking for some insight whether you experience drone on the highway (60mph-75mph). If not, how did you defeat the drone? And what setup are you using?
I was thinking about upgrading to the full turboback as well. Of course with all cabin noise reduction possible: Downpipe, HFC (to pass inspection), and both mini-muffler & resonator in the mid-pipe section.
Would upgrading the stock pipes only make the drone worse (even with the resonator & mini-muffler)? If so, I'll just leave it as is or look for a less droning exhaust.
Thanks in advance!

i have the ur catback with the midpipe resonator and its been good to be. i had a cabin rattle at low rpms but i checked under and realized the thickness of the midpipe was hitting the exhaust shield under the car. i shifted the midpipe to the left about a half inch and all was good. no more interior rattle and much less 'drone'. at highway speeds, much quiter than my e46 with oem cat+resonator+straightpipe muffler delete. i do plan on dynamatting the trunk first since its so easily accessible + for passengers. if you go any louder with your system, dont expect the drone to decrease... dynamat is your answer

I have an Ultimate Racing catback exhaust and it rattles like crazy right below the shifter and i looked under the car and the midpipe is like hugging the side of the car next to the heatshield, how would i fix that, it is unbearably annoying, and the exhaust is mounted in the right spot.

I have the UR catback w/ the mini-muffler on the rear mid-pipe. I still have a lot of drone at 75ish. I'm thinking I'll try adding the front mid-pipe w/ the resonator to quite it down a bit and hopefully remove the drone.
For the people that the have the front mid-pipe hitting the side fo the heat shield, unbolt the pipe and rotate it 180 deg on the long axxys. The connection plates are slightly at an angle and if it's on backwards it will pull the exhaust out of center.
I have to say that overall I'm not that satisfied with the UR exhaust. It doesn't fit well to the HFC pipe from them or the stock cat pipe. It sounds good at high RPM but in the range the car is in most of the time it's very boomy and drones badly.
