Dyno Question

If you want to get dyno tuned, do you have to buy a tuning device? Something like haltech, or cobb? Or will the tuner just flash the ECU? I read that some tuners were able to build off of the GST or AMS base flashes to get more power I just didnt know how that worked or what it would cost. When I had my 350Z i know the shops wanted me to buy a tuning device. I never did it though. Thanks for the help.

The Ralliart can be tuned with EcuFlash, Cobb AP, or EcuTek.

Depends on the tuner on which they use. Some use one, some use all three.

EcuFlash, in theory, should be the cheapest option, and also has just as much tuning potential, if not more, then the other two.

Yep, I just showed up for my dyno-tune appointment already running the GST basemap on my car's ECU, and from there my tuner just used his laptop computer, Tactrix Cable, and EcuFlash to do some tweaking and fine-tuning of the GST basemap and I was done in about an hour.

Thats great news about the tuner being able to build off the GST. Will I have to find a tuner that specifically knows the ECUFlash program or can any dyno tuner do this? Only one hour of dyno time that couldn't have cost too much? Do you mind me asking how much that cost?

As always, call around and ask around to find a reputable tuner who knows what he's doing and has experience using the particular tuning method that he'll be applying when tuning your vehicle. Since I already had the GST basemap in place, my tuner didn't have to start from scratch, and therefore it only took him an hour of labor so the cost was $250 instead of the normal $500....

Wow that is awesome pretty much half price. I will def have to call around. This month I plan on buying and installing a K&N drop in, X BOV, and X FMIC and UICP. After that a tune or exhaust and then tune. I just don't want too many aftermarket parts with the base GST flash since it is made for a totally stock RA.
