I just replaced mine with an Evo IX and I dunno if its placebo effect but all I seemed to notice was the car pulling smoother, not any much harder. I could faintly hear the BOV venting pshew on quiet roads. Is the change really supposed to be night and day like one of the previous posters said?

imo, no. I don't think the bov is that huge of an upgrade

the stock bov is fine for anything under 20psi. My tune is running 22psi and I was running on stock bov. When I upgraded to an Evo X, it just made the torque smoother and more even since there was no more leaking. I guess since the car was holding torque better over the whole rev range, it pulls a little harder and for a longer period

I do think the bov upgrade effect is over-exaggerated though

In this thread:

This test:

Maybe some leak more than others. I put the plastic BOV from a customer's RalliArt on a tuned EVO X and it really didnt make much difference. Maybe the EVO X turbo just powered right through it as the EVO X error correction dealt with the leak.

Then I put an EVO X metal BOV on my tuned RalliArt with a stock RalliArt turbo. It made a big difference.

Purple and blue runs were the stock RA plastic BOV and the red and green runs are with the factory metal BOV. The difference in boost was worth about 10 whp.

^uh, this thread is two years old.

You do not need to tune for the EVO X BOV.
If you run a tune the BOV is really required (won't leak).
An EVO IX BOV will work - you just need a slightly longer vacuum tube.

It is an easy install.

Do it.
