6hrs into the day and still haven't yanked the RA turbo off yet. This is no easy job. Next time, I'll let a shop do the work.

The suck begins when you get to taking the downpipe off. Bolts are in weird spots.

Careful, 2 bolts snapped when I had mine done. Had to drill them out (almost had to blow torch).

Haven't done that. On last bolt I missed holding turbo to engine block. Why are these bolts in horrible spots? Even with more than enough tools, half these bolts are a PITA.

I'll appreciate it more when it's complete by my hands.

BTW, just got back from a 2 week trip in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Lots of Lancers there Masafina.

One bolt. Only thing keeping me from removing the turbo and I think it was cross threaded from the factory. Got maybe 3 rotations out before it seized. It's the one that is in the steel bracket that connects the turbo to the block.

Looking at the pic, start center and go down some to the hole flooded with PB Blaster.

Success!

After a day of broken tools and crushed fingers, finally got the old RA turbo off. Worst is over. Reassemble with X turbo tomorrow.
