Also, if i start data logging more frequently (i.e. during daily commutes) having the OpenPort2.0 pointing in a different direction or in a different location all together so it's not as intrusive in the foot space would be great...
But the splitter thing would allow me to retain the stock OBDII hookup location while being able to plug the OpenPort 2.0 into an out of the way location.
this is about as close as your gonna get i think:

I'm half way thinking about doing a CarPC that has access to OpenPort connection, and having the OpenPort2.0 in that position permanently isn't really an option. I've already snagged my left foot on it once accidentally.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it when I get home.

All you need is an openport 2.0 cable and a microsd card:

I did see that they do have a y-connector too. I skipped on that though because my CarPC plan is still a ways down the road... thanks again for the link

well the motor is back in the car i just have to install the turbo and intake manifold.
the car wont be done till tuesday now though because i was trying to get the pulley of the tensioner and the bolt snapped off so now i dont have a belt tensioner and i'm sure it will take till tuesday for the dealer to get one.
