K&N drop-in

Went to advanced auto parts the other day to pick up a k&n drop-in filter for my ralliart and the AAP guy said there's no sub-category for whether or not the filter will fit the Evo or Ralliart it just says lancer turbo. My question is do they use the same filter?

Ive been using the K&N drop in for a while now and its annoying to clean. you have to buy the cleaning kit and it takes a couple of hours. Plus rather have the feeling of knowing I have a clean air filter each time.

somewhere between 0-10 each car is different, but don't expect much in overall hp gains. I think it does spool a little faster though....

victorlg88 - how often are you cleaning it? K&N recommends every 50,000 miles or so...

did anyone with a K&N notice smoother shifts and more linear acceleration? I put the filter in this weekend and I'm not sure it should be making that much of a difference in the driving experience.

I noticed that i had better response and the turbo spool's faster. A little better on gas as well..

Not sure about the shifting.

^ thanx for the reply slyy! Also, I have to wait till next pay to get the lip... wife needed my extra cash for an IPAD, I'm just a big fat push over.

Before the K&N filter, the RA would have mad torque and push me to the back of the seat near the 3k RPM range.

After installing the filter, the power comes in a little smoother so that I don't get shoved to the back.

I also put in an EVO 9 metal BOV... might be the combination of the two that smoothed out the turbo spool... just worried that it's not normal. You know how our cars are.

I have a K&N and i noticed no change between a clean factory filter and a K&N. I had one and thought i'd use it .... just wanted to throw this out there so you have more opinions. buy it for it's reusable feature and it's a bonus if you notice a power gain !
