One misconception I had (maybe still have lol) is that once you install another turbo, the car is pretty much UNDRIVEABLE. I assumed that it wouldnt function properly enough to drive so I thought it had to be done at the shop/tuner. Im wrong on this correct? I can install the RAD, X or any other turbo and then drive it to the tuning place correct?

as long as you stay out of boost yes you can install the turbo and drive it to a shop

For snipingdude, I agree with baggelis that you can install the turbo upgrade and drive it to the shop if you stay out of boost. Even if you accidentally hit 1 or 2 psi, you'll be fine. Buy a boost gauge for this, lol

Does an aftermarket Ralliart LICP work for a x swap?

Really depends on what intake you use i think. I have an Ultimate Racing RA lower IC pipe and a CBRD RA XSwap Intake and they work perfect together.

Exactly like Mad SB said. Match your intake with your LICP. Evo X intake? Evo X LICP. RA style intake? RA LICP. Or you could go the route that some have already and mix and match, but this takes some patience and a bit of home-depot style fab work.

Would installing the evo x turbo on the RA be a safe upgrade so the SST doesnt have any problems?

^ I know you sent me an IM asking this same question. But seriously, look through the last 3 years and you will see literally dozens and dozens of threads showing those who have done it (and yet it never gets old ). Search is your friend

Dozens of people do it but how reliable is it? That is my question. People mod their cars and once it blows they dont usually post it. Maybe we should have a ralliart dyno section just like the evos so we can actually see what people have done on what turbo

With a proper tune (making sure torque is properly limited, and also making sure slipping issues are addressed, all doable via tuning), I wouldn't be overly concerned about reliability with the SST trans. This is further supported by the fact that the Evo X MR and SE use an SST trans. Out of the box, the RA SST isn't set up to handle the same amount of torque as the MR SST, however, with proper tuning, these differences can be addressed and problems minimized. Read through the links I've provided above to see how this tuning is accomplished.

To give an idea of just how much power these transmissions have been shown to hold now that tuners are becoming more familiar with the platform, watch these videos.

okay thanks, that really answered some of the questions i had that i was looking to be answered.

So would upgrading the clutches solve the limited torque problem and installing a bigger turbo be no problem??
