^Huh? Please go back and re-read the whole thread. The initial mis-conception that it would cost $12K to replace a TC-SST isn't true. And consider:

(loan payoff) - (part out) + (labor to part out) + (irritated wife with broke car in dirveway fro two months) =

Makes more $ense to replace a broke TC-SST.

Isn't the $6k contingent on the fact that one can even find a good used TC-SST? So if you need to replace one, the only 100% sure way to do it is to either buy one from the factory or flat bed someone's RA off the street at night, steal the transmission and put the car back in the spot by the morning.
