If (God Forbid!) the transmission fails outside warranty...
What manual transmission options are there? I figure it would be cheaper to convert to an EVO VII (? VIII? X?) manual transmisison...
I say this because you could get the pedal set from a wrecked Lancer, and the transmission and shifter assy from a wrecked EVO...
But what else? Do the ECU requirements kill the deal? Do the shafts and tranny bolt up? Mounts? What else makes it too difficult or expensive?
I am thinking feasible and practical (total project costs less than a swap of a TC-SST)
Thanks!
(and if a search would have revealed this - i will take my beating! )

An evo x 5spd should bolt up with little modification since it's the same engine. I remember that the argument against it was the fact that the evo x tcu would always be looking for the ayc but we had a fellow ralliart member bolt up a sst from an MR and it worked just fine. As far as costs you can pick up a 5spd for 1500 in the fs section plus shift linkage and installation it shouldn't cost more than 4k to swap it out. I'm actually going to talk to mike at rre to see if this is possible bc I have 6k ready to go into the ssp trans upgrades but if the trans craps out on me it's 12k down the drain

It's not the same drivetrain as a 9. The tcase, etc is Evo 10 specific.
I hate when people say it's the same as the 9 and people take it literally.
It's using the same TECH as the 9, meaning the RA doesn't have AYC like the Evo 10. Everything else is the same.
The ACD/AYC uses a seperate ECU then the engine ECU or the Transmission TCU.
ACD / AYC activity has nothing to do with the actual engine or transmission.

True but the argument was that the TCU is in constant communication with the ayc computer so when you tried swapping in the 5spd it would constantly be looking for the ayc, because of this no one knows how the transmission would react but if someone managed to put an MR transmission in without any problems why not try a 5spd

TCU and ECU communicate. ASC is tied into those. Obviously the ACD/AYC control unit get CAN information just like all the other control units because it needs to know g/yaw/speed/etc information.
Swapping a Manual transmission into the car doesn't change the transfer case, where ACD is contained, doesn't change the rear diff (AYC or not), doesn't change the ACD/AYC control unit (which the RA has). It does change the TCU which is intergrated into the SST Transmission. This is where the unknown is if you take it out of the equation.

So then swapping in a 5spd might be as easy as doing it on a civic? Cuz ill gladly be the guiny pig to see if it works and how hard the install is and anyone who says just buy a GSR don't worry I am but I still want a 5spd ralliart
