I feel like that doesnt let air come in smoothly and the heat from the battery is right by the intake

that's why I cut and leave the snorkel in there, and the intercooler is supouse to cool down that air

Its not worth all the heat soak from any short ram intake on the market, if you were to even spend any time and money on doing the swap just do it the right way the first time. I used the AMS EVO X Intake, A summit racing battery relocation kit for the trunk is cheap and easy, i re-used my stock battery since it only had 7k miles. The Positive terminal once ran along the fuel line into the Engine bay just bolted on where it would to the main fuse as if it came straight off the battery. If you plan on spending the money its always better and cheaper to spend the money and do it right the first time, ONCE.

Ok, well the swap is done, but I'm having some small issues. My fuel trims are quite high and my car is idling pretty rich, I used the stock evo maf housing which I've read is the same size as the ralliart, is this false? Could I use a stock evo maf scaling table if so?

You need to re-scale the MAF. Ralliart is smaller than the Evo. Yes you can use a stock Evo MAF scaling. If you are a DIY kinda person, check out:

Wish I could take credit (Swiftus on EvoX), but I thought it was pretty neat to.

Since when has the stock maf housing for the Ralliart been different from the Evo. Ive done all my work before most of you have even owned a ralliart and the custom SRI was one of the first mods i did because the EXACTLY lined up when i swaped the parts and it made sense to get rid of that restricted box.

Technically you would be running lean if the housing was bigger allowing more air in that the computer is not counting and therefor less fuel per parts of air. Whats happening is the fact that it is less restrictive and allowing air to flow more freely and your computer is detecting that and thus putting more fuel in to compensate for the additional air. So you say rich, i say running better... And all of this is hearsay without datalogs proving anything.

Since when has the stock maf housing for the Ralliart been different from the Evo.
Since day 1, or 0 depending on the view point . The MAF itself is the same but the tube it's housed withing are different sizes for the stock Ralliart vs. stock Evo. In fact, most people upgrade to the Evo sized MAF housing for the increase in flow (budget SRI).
The different sized tubes are what necessitate a re-scaling.
What's REALLY happening is the ECU is looking at the MAF scaling table to approximate CFM based on psi and VE. Then it determines open/closed loop crossover, and compares it against the Fuel table. Then it compares those AFR values against the Calibration table (% of). For closed loop it compares against actual o2 values, and makes a Fuel Trim change to "get back in-line". So basically if either the MAF scaling or the VE tables is wrong, your f-ed. If ONLY it were that simple tho, as there an additional bajillion other tables that tweak things (Manifold temp, Baro, etc)

Cobb intake works fine. Just some trimming needed. I advice nothing longer then a 5" filter with trimming to be used
