Ceramic Cat to Mini Muffler

I have the turbo back style exhaust from Ultimate-Racing and as much as I love the beast of a roar I get out of it when my foot is on the accelerator, my neighbors and room-mates can't stand it. So in turn, I'm thinking about changing the high flow ceramic cat with the mini-muffler option. I basically wanted to know if I'm wasting my money for it to make barely a difference at all or if it really does tone it down to a reasonable level.

I don't know how Mass. vehicle inspections are done, but having a cat is required to pass state inspection usually.

I'm still on stock exhaust so I don't know how loud the UR catback is, but maybe ease up on the pedal until you're away from your area of residence.

I'm kinda confused by your post. You have the UR turboback but with what options? Do you have a test pipe or High flow cat? Is your midpipe a straight pipe or does it have the mini muffler or resonator (or both) options?

Not sure of his midpipe but he has a HFC, but he is speaking of the test pipe w mini muffler option found here, separate from the Midpipe option.

Yeah but if he is required to have a cat then his only real option would be to change the midpipe configuration. I thought the HFC would be quieter than the testpipe anyway?

True, the HFC would be quieter than a normal test pipe, but i cannot say about the test pipe w/ mini muffler. I "assume" that the whole reason of adding a mini muffler to a test pipe would be to muffle sound, now as to how much that is probably not something we are going to find out without purchasing one of both and trying it out. Cant find any sound clips of comparisons.

As per the legal issues of having a test pipe, you are correct if required he should stick with a HFC for being able to pass.

And since he hasnt responded about our midpipe info request, he could already have both the mini muffler and resonator installed and his only option would be to go for this test pipe w/ mini muffler aside from purchasing a stock flow cat.
