Transmission question

Car just hit 50,000 km (31,000 miles) and I've started to notice that when braking the car downshifts more harshly than it has in the past. It's not terrible but definitely noticable. Any ideas? I'm a bit strapped for cash so I'm hoping it could be solved with a SST fluid change.

a fluid change should fix this issue.

Thanks everyone. Gonna do this very soon. Hate the fact that the fluid alone will be $250+ though. I have a friend who is a mechanic. Is there any issue with me voiding the warranty if he does the fluid change? I'd rather not pay the dealership but I don't want to risk losing my warranty by not having the work done by a Mitsu dealer.

You can get the fluid for alot cheaper than $250. Check out:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...sst-fluid.html

You won't void the warranty by having someone else besides the dealer do the change.

Thank you for the thread link. Read the entire thing. Looks like about $140 for the fluid and then $120 for the filter + cost of labour.

You need 2 gallons of SST fluid plus the filter.
Don't forget the transfer(0.8L) and rear axle(0.55L) oil using Diagueen LSD fluid..

It does not have a dipstick. You have to capture and measure the drained fluid, and then refill with the same amount.
