Turbo swap question

so when you swap out the oem turbo for a RAD do you really need to drain the engine oil and coolant like the service manual says or can you get away with not doing it and just disconnecting the lines?

Give it a try, let me know how it goes
Think about it, would you replace a radiator and leave the coolant in the engine?

I seem to recall someone (Bryan?) mentioning that it was possible to pinch off the rubber coolant lines... if you did it carefully, and didn't damage them.

yeah, pinching or blocking a line is what i'm talking about that cool for rubber coolant lines... but what about the oil

i just figured someone, somewhere has a shortcut i'm not thinking about, but i have a feeling i'm just gunna end up doing some draining... not a big deal but if i can avoid it, bonus

It's part of the labor of a turbo swap, oil change and coolant flush.

If it is 'close' to being due for a change - you would drain/change.

If it is fine - then just cap/plug/pinch the lines....

I'd say drain/refill the oil regardless. It's cheap, it's easy...

Coolant is pretty easy as well, there is a drain sock at the bottom of the passenger side of the radiator.

Get a 3/8" (I think) bardb and just connect the two coolant lines.

Oil barely leaked. Coolant... drain that. I thought I'd just pinch/attach together, and I ended up with coolant all over the garage floor.

Oil doesnt really come out since the engine isnt running and its all sitting in the pan. I would change the oil regardless. I didnt change mine until after I was done with the swap though. The coolant is most likely going to go evey where if u dont drain it first.
