Yeah, we've spent lots of time trying to squeeze the absolute most out of our RA ECU-side SST tune... without ever having to consider LC compatibility.

What a great problem to have now!

As you said, roll all the SST tuning tables back to stock and re-test. Then work through progressively. If you can launch with stock SST tables in place, put the custom tables back in "sets", ie. all the CPRU ones first, then all the "Throttle Requested Torque", then all the "Torque Limit". See which set trips out the LC.

And try to ensure your vehicle survives the testing. Rather you than me, lol.

Still get slow down with stock tables. Damn. Then again my car never launch the tap method well compare to others either. Who knows.

After I get the slow down, I have to do some driving or else the clutches engage when i try to get into launch control again. So I know launch control is there and available..

^ amen to that.

hunt through the update... you'll find the cff files
I'd also love to know which is which. there's about 8 of them there. i know some are for Outlander, lancer CVT etc. i wonder if the file for all years of Evo SST is the same one?
hence why i was going ot flash my own Evo MR with the cff file and see if the SST behaves any different (upgrading my 2008 tcu firmware with 2012 firmware)

i also just used the available MUT3 software on my laptop - and plugged a VCI into it, updated the VCI firmware.... voila!

So I played around with dropping the TPS down in 1st like the original MR roms and it seems to have helped. Not like i think it should (hold it down and go), but better. If i feather a bit after releasing brake I can get it to launch , but it has a hell of a time going to 2nd gear bouncing rev limiter. I'm going to continue messing with the TPS in 1st and see if I can find some values that work. We will see.

i wonder what it is in the US roms then?
I had TPS set to 100% right across and LC worked like a charm. like 6 out of 6 repeated launches.

My guess is the USDM has a slightly different SST base. Rich has the best documented differences for all RA (world wide, on a mother f-ing boat). I know from some of my own testing that different ways of aligning the 2D's and the light throttle region of CPRU can induce/reduce slippage when leaving a red light. Seems logically that might be relevant to launching as well.

Is there a way to have each transmission mode correspond to a different ECU Map? Something like: Normal mode lightly tweaked stock (better drivability but stock boost), Sport bumps us to the equivalent of current GST Basemap and S-Sport is a race gas file?

Think you're still learning how to perfect LC. It works but very briefly.

I don't think this is out there yet, but it would indeed be awesome. Sounds like TephraMod but using the SST mode as the switch.

Maybe, but from what I read many people just hold both, get to 5k, let brake go, and take off.... am I wrong?

1. Complete stop
2. Trans to S-Sport by holding up on the selector
3. ASC off
4. Foot on brake hard
5. With brake still depressed, floor gas till 5k rpm
6. Let off brake while still flooring gas
7. Go like a bat out of hell

You get about 1-2 seconds max @ 5k, if you're lucky, before it overheats.

Technically, yes, it's possible to mod the ROM to do that. I considered it at some point... kind of an unholy SST version of Tephra's XMOD AltMaps. Lower boost in NORMAL mode, etc. Never did it, though. It seemed like lots of work - and wouldn't have been something I could share with others.

But not a good plan for different fuel types... Any idiot could jump in your car, flick the button, drive it hard and blow up the motor.

Rich

PS. Off-topic, lol.
