evo ix bpv question....
So I just received my used evo 9 bpv from sierra motorsports and installed it today. Should I be hearing or feeling any difference? I didn't buy it expecting a difference, I just didn't want to break my stock plastic one for dealer visits. But since installing it I SWEAR my engine sounds a little more raspy especially in the higher rpms. And something in the cabin now vibrates a little. All I can say is wtf? Is the bpv broken?? Am I dumb? I'm about to put the stock one back on tomorrow just to see. My engine sort of sounds like how one of the last posters in the 09 RA sounds sticky said his wifes is now sounding since their last oil change (raspy and fart canny) but they have around 90,000 km and I have 711 miles. Advice please?
Side note : car doesn't seem to lose boost and its still fast... but I think I'm hearing a slight flutter during spool up. And I say I think because there is a chance I'm just being super paranoid.

you shouldn't really be feeling any difference. Not really anyway. The biggest differences will be at full boost with boost pill applications. Overall the Evo's BPV is a more durable unit compared to what the RA came with.
If you think you're getting more cabin/resonance noises, then you may want to double check all the fittings, and possibly swap back to the stock unit to see if it goes away.

According to the seller, the bpv was tested before it was shipped and should be in perfect working order. So that being said.. what was the flutter i was experiencing?

haha, no not backwards . Im actually a little upset because now, after like a day of driving with the stock bpv on i wound up hearing the flutter again. Its during like ~ 2750rmps - ~4000 (right when i start spooling up).. the only reason im making such a big deal is because i do not remember hearing it at all. Is ANY kind of fluttering sound normal or no? Im thinking about just taking the car back to the dealer to have them check it out to ease my mind (this is my first new car...). And i guess to describe it better... you know the sound a turbo makes when spooling.. well instead of that sound being smooth the whole way up.. it "stutters" or "flutters" a little at lower rpms when first hitting boost. I only have 750 miles and based on the advice of people here i have not reflashed my ecu yet, so bone stock.

I get some odd sounding engine harmonics when I rev up to that RPM range quickly but then have to let off a little due to traffic and then hold the RPMs w/o shifting or giving it more gas. In my car I get kind of a "whaawhaaawhaaawhaa" that goes away as soon as I give it more gas or up shift.
At low RPMs, if I completely let off just as boost starts to build, I'll sometimes get "chu chu chu chu" from my BPV.
Hard to say based off descriptions. It might be normal, especially if it's doing it with the stock BPV. Videos sometimes help if the audio quality is good enough.
