clacking sound when engine breaking

Does anyone else hear a clacking sound when engine breaking? Just want to know if it's normal.

I'd imagine hearing clacking and other sounds would be normal if your engine was breaking... If you meant braking otoh, no.

No it sounds like a bicycle that has those stupid wheel flappers on the spokes that clack. That what it sounds like when I engine brake.

Is it serious? It's like a fan trying to engine brake is that what it is?

Post a video if you can, when engine braking in any car I have owned if it be 125hp civic or my 500whp Evo I have never once hear a noise that would depict what you are saying you hear but a video would help out tremendously.

I would also say since I have never heard anything like that, that there is probably something wrong.

On a final note, stop engine braking and learn how to rev match if you can to take the strain off the drivetrain etc...

Note: Our rev matching is done by Terminator Cyberdyne Skynet Sentient Transmission (TC-SST).

Goes to show you how much I have read about the Ralliart Lancers... Never driven one either so the whole engine braking thing only made sense to me with it being manual and not the SST.

Now that this has been brought to my attention, OP, definitely get it checked out because something is wrong.

Mine does it, all the SST's I've been in do it to some extreme. 1st and 2nd mostly. It's subtle but it is the plates clacking around...

Ok and yes it definitely does it in 1st and 2nd gear. Thanks razorlabs for confirmation. What plates click like that exactly. Just trying to learn.
