Which Dry Drop-In Filter?

Hey guys, I'm new to actually posting on here. I put my introduction in the sticky on the general page.

Anyway, my 2011 RA is stock right now, and I'm trying to decide between some different non-oiled air filters. I've done a decent amount of research and have read the other topics on here to narrow it down to 2 or 3 filters. Now I just want opinions and possible comparisons.

The three I'm looking at are Cosworth, aFe, and HKS.

As of right now, the HKS is in last place. Has anyone had experience with more than just one of these that can say how they compare? I read the HKS is the loudest but probably filters the least. I've read the Cosworth pretty much sounds OEM. I'm not sure about the aFe. I also plan to most likely put a new cat back exhaust on my car (unless the air filter alone seems to make my car that much louder, but I don't think it will), so I don't know just how loud I want the filter anyway.

Does anyone know of any noticeable performance differences between the three filters?

Thanks!

he seems interested in dry filters only... K&N filters are oiled. I like K&N also and have over 30K miles on mine with no problems. But some people just aren't interested in oiled filters. So, *shrugs*

Cosworth. Perfect fitment, sounds like stock, slightly noticable power, and better fuel mileage. What more an u ask for.

I've currently got the cossie drop in after having the ralliart drop - both have been fine with no issues.

Thanks for the input, guys. Are the Cosworth panel filters reusable? It didn't say on their website. Also, do you guys have any recommendations for where to buy them? I couldn't find if the other brands were reusable either.

I have the AFE. Slight increase in intake sound , It might be giving me a little increase in MPG's but with a roof rack and mudflaps (air breaks ) I don't see it.

Thanks for the info! It seems like the aFe is the least used one in our cars, so I didn't have much input on it. Have you noticed any performance increase at all? I know it's just an air filter, but some people claim (possibly out of wishful thinking) that they can feel increased throttle response and stuff.

People who claim that they can feel the power difference in just a filter change is being delusional. The small 5-10 WHP at MOST your gonna get is gonna be completely un-noticable.

That isn't to say that they are a bad deal. A few HP here, a few there and it does all add up after all. And most hiflow filters are re-usable so in the long run, you could even end up saving money.

Oh and to answer your question...cozzys get my vote. Where best to get them depends on where you live. If your near a tuner, I would always recommend a visit and a buy from them. The dollar difference will be like 10 bucks at MOST to support a local resource you can hit up in the future and the ability to pick their brain is worth a LOT more then a few bucks.

Also there is AEM...which uses a dry filter...but that is more of a new intake system then just a filter change up.

I had the cosworth filter which was a great option, sounds just like stock. If there was a power increase it was barely, my dealer put the paper one back in at a service and it took me about 3 weeks to notice. Im running the GST+boostpill map now, so its better just to leave the stock filter in. I'd recommend keeping the stock filter and spend some cash on getting a base tune done, cheap and reliable power. No turbo sneeze though, so sorry if thats all your after.

i have an AFE dry filter with the wash kit that i dont use, i got it when i bought a k&n filter from a member on here, he wouldnt sell them separate so i bought both of them.

i believe the original seller had about 15k on the AFE before he got an intake...PM me if interested I have orig box.

ive test fitted the AEM, it fits REAL snug, but i prefer oiled so i didnt use it.

For a dry filter i would say cosworth, if u want sound go for HKS but i'm not sure about its filtration. Oiled I'm using works, i think its pretty good.. i think it has larger surface area than K&N.
