Check Engine Light - Timing Chain Stretch?
I checked the owners manual and found out the warning light i was getting may be due to the timing chain stretch. Running the GST Basemaps, I thought i'd better revert to stock map before i bring my car to the dealer. Now it's been two days the light hasn't come on since. What can i do to get this light come on again? Or, could the stock map is so gentle on the car that ECU determines its not faulty enough to signal the check engine light? In this case i would be stuck with factory map

If you got a CEL for timing chain stretch I would definitely return to stock and hit up that stealership if you're under warranty.
Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask.
What is the warranty on timing chains? I know they have no replacement interval, and companies like Mazda place lifetime warranties on them. Anyone had any experience?

Idk about the warrenty, but even comepletly stock cars will get stretching and its different for each one. I am heavily modded and my light never went off but i replaced mine at ~50k miles just because i could see the stretch and would rather be safe than sorry

After checking the car, my dealership service manager told me that the warning light was indeed timing chain related, but they only had to perform "timing chain position value re-learn procedure in the ECU". Some how in the ECU the timing chain position was missing/invalid, and it triggers the warning light. They did not bother to pop the valve cover and inspect it physically. I will take his words for now.
Can this value be erased when flashing the BaseMaps or any re-flash?

I think there was a TSB for that so I'm pretty sure that's what they performed. Please keep your receipt or document in case something happen to the timing chain, you have a very strong case against them.
