Ok first off I apologize if this has been answered already but while searching I couldn't find an exact answer. Secondly I'm not sure if this is the same problem that others have with "knocking" in their transmission but it sounds different.

For the first time, I noticed a pretty menacing "knock" or "clunk" when putting my car in drive from park or neutral and also from drive or neutral into park. Does anyone else have this or could there be a problem?

I just bought the car less than a month ago (used) 2010 with only 12,000 miles on it.

 

This is normal... If your hear noises in park/neutral but then it disappears when the car is in gear with th e-brake up then what you are hearing is the noisy clutches... Perfectly Normal.

 

A clunk (or double-clunk) when going from P to D... normal.
