AMS intake VS west coast rain

so i'm running an AMS intake with a hydro sheild (with the vent panels installed) and i've noticed when we get the rains you'd expect on vancouver island in winters my car tends to chug a bit...

its sluggish the exhaust tone is louder, and the car just doesn't respond the same

i know this is probably the worst way to desrcibe it but its one of those you gotta see it things

just wondering if anyone else is having the same kind of issues

Most likely moisture in the air or that gets sucked thru the hydro shield is either gathering near or on your MAF causing funny readings

At what ambient temperature? You can get icing in very damp/micromist but around 37deg F conditions... Due to the air accelerating though the filter...

Just moisture (rain) on the filter will actually improve performance (colder charge and supressed detonation). Rain/moisture is constantly drying due to the air flow and engine bay temps when standing still.

I would suspect something electrical...

Outside temp is around 5 deg C, only have this issue when its raining hard

I've been contemplating fabricating some sort of induction box, figure that would help out

Quick question do you just have the intake or did you get the cold air extension (the one that relocates the filter to the fog light housing).

Just the intake...

The cold air extension isn't compatible with the Sst, right?

Not sure. I think it gets in the way of the tanny cooler but I could be wrong.

Agreed.

Having anything in front of the tranny cooler is a bad idea. If anything, you want to remove things from in front of it, such as the fog lights if you don't use them.

Update, forgot to mention there was also random times at idle i would get wicked vibration from the exhaust

I've since gone under the car and replaced all 4 bolts on the cat with better bolts & nylon lock nuts and did some tinkering with the CBE and this problem isn't noticable anymore
