I reckon if you can have 5+ centimetres between the back of the cooler and the washer bottle, you'll find it is reasonably effective when moving.

Is this where the Euro RA's have the oil cooler? I remember reading about a select few RA's over in Europe that came with them.

While I'm open to the idea of a "stock location" cooler, not sure its worth the effort of developing a new piece rather than just finding the part numbers and ordering the stock cooler.

I guess what I'm saying is isn't the point of aftermarket parts to get better than stock performance?

Does anyone actually have a concern with putting it up near the ic directly in the flow? If so, what are they? I just want to make sure I cover all my bases.

Well I had looked into this. To the point where I bought a Mishimoto oil cooler kit. But it's a universal one, I have to get banjo bolts and mounting brackets. It's the brackets that give me a headache, I have no idea how to design one and get someone to make it.

Wouldn't a "stock location" cooler be better than most of us that are devoid of an oil cooler to begin with? I'm not trying to argue, but having one period is better than not. Plus it would save on the overall price having to fabricate brackets and other things to fit it. Would make this a super budget friendly part.

The euro spec Ralliart comes with a smaller washer bottle and an oil cooler. The euro spec one is sent to the Middle East where it needs the oils cooled.

Find out the bottle part # and drop in an evo cooler. (Its been done on this forum)

The end :-)

I guess I'm just thinking a bracket will be needed either way (the stock one has some sort of one to bolt to that spot. I figure if we need a bracket either way, then doing it "right" and putting it in the flow instead of back behind the bumper, behind the fog light, makes more sense.

Honestly for "cheapest" option mounting it to the crashbar with no bracket is going to be it. And if you wan't to do that, the SSP cooler is already there to fill the need. But I don't really like that idea, rather not be tapping screws into crashbars.

If you want a sub-par cooling solution. Great option for a daily driver that never sees any abuse, but just like the SST cooler, more is needed than the stock setup for any real performance driving.

you dont say,

wonder why the evo 7,8,9 gusy took off their oil coolers in the major track/builds.........

more trouble then its worth.

My evo with a 2.3L stroker and 470whp uses a factory oil cooler and it still runs great.

What trouble do they introduce? And when you say track, do you mean drag racing? or road racing for quite a few laps? Care to share where you got this information?

Ok I am also intersted and I too will be running the fog light delete and AMS trans cooler etc. My reason for wanting a an oil cooler is simple I do track my car for drag and road race events and plans call for a bigger EF2 dual scroll turbo in the future so might as well add an oil cooler now in preparation for said bigger turbo.

mosport 1:38s for numerous laps or until my fuel level reaches half way.

I read it in these forums guys taking out the oil coolers causing issues with the ev8/9.

My factory oil cooler works just fine in the evoX with a giant stroker motor.

While a stock X cooler may suffice for most, the avg cost I've seen is $400 - 500 used. If we can do better (more flow, more capacity) for cheaper or the same, NEW, why not? We don't have stock coolers so either way if we want oil cooling we have to spend money.
