If your going to get the ams LICP with the TiAl BOV you might have to relocate the battery because the battery tray will hit it. And I'm not sure that the cold air intake will work with our cars because the tranny cooler is located in the same spot where the filter will be. Unless you get a aftermarket cooler like the SSP one you should be ok. By the way what is your budget? All of this is going to cost you a pretty penny.

My goal is to have it at $4000 or less. At the bear minimum i would like this thing to have more power than an evo, i would like to have an upgraded turbo like the bbx full and maybe do the bear minimum to run it for now and have room to do more as time goes by. Would i be able to get the BBX full and use all evo x parts besides the uicp because of the whole soft pipe deal. Would stock evo x parts work for this application and maybe i pick a few parts such as the injectors and fuel pump, possibly intercooler?

I find it odd no one has mentioned building the motor for this power level. 400 to the wheels on stock motor and pump is pretty close to the edge.

400whp isn't something you do on a "bare minimum".

Ignoring the motor....

Fuel System:
Walbro 255
ID1000s

Turbo/Intake
AGP T3 Kit (includes manifold, turbo, downpipe).
UICP (pick one)
LICP (pick one)
X Aftermarket Intake/MAF housing (Moore Auto 3.5" is good)
3.5" Intercooler (4" is better)

Exhaust
High Flow Cat or TP
Catback, if you want, but not REQUIRED.

Trans:
S-Sport flash

Misc
Wideband
Tune
Battery Relocation (or CBRD's Intake will avoid this)

I'd budget more around $6,000 to do this, again ignoring the stock motor.

And then you have the issues with reliability at this power level.

IMO 400hp-450hp is safe on the stock block as long as its tuned properly.

Its not that im trying to be completely cheap with it, i just want to be able to get enough done with a good base turbo to have room to build off from when i get back from deployment. I like that AGP T3 you put on that list, comes with the manifold and down pipe so all together is probably cheaper than the BBX Full

Wow that AGP kit is a great deal for you ralliart guys since you would need an exhaust manifold and downpipe anyways. Plus stock appearing matters a lot less when its mounted on the back of the engine.

[QUOTE=EyeDreamt;10927164]I find it odd no one has mentioned building the motor for this power level. 400 to the wheels on stock motor and pump is pretty close to the edge.

400whp isn't something you do on a "bare minimum".

Ignoring the motor....

Fuel System:
Walbro 255 $89 new
ID1000s $100 (DW 1000s)

Turbo/Intake
AGP T3 Kit (includes manifold, turbo, downpipe).-- $2600
UICP (pick one)-- $95
LICP (pick one)-- $250 (AMS), $200 (COBB brand new)
X Aftermarket Intake/MAF housing (Moore Auto 3.5" is good)-- $100 COBB w/ MAF)
3.5" Intercooler (4" is better)-- $400 (3" ETS) or $550 (4" ETS)
or $300 for stock IC and UICP and LICP (may be able to find cheaper if you look)

Exhaust
High Flow Cat or TP -- $120 UR Test Pipe or $200 ETS HFC
Catback, if you want, but not REQUIRED.-- $350

Trans:
S-Sport flash (free depending on who you can find to do it)

Misc
Wideband $200
Tune $800 (Estimate based off a quoted dyno tune from local tuner)
Battery Relocation (or CBRD's Intake will avoid this) $129 with a battery box

Estimate totals around 5400 with the HFC and 4" IC and COBB LICP
These prices were cited from 5 mins of looking in the used evo x Power for sale section and finding straggler parts new online and thats with the asking prices. Haggle a bit and you could get to about $4500 without resorting to stock x parts and including a mail in tune (not ideal way to tune but can get you close) or less if you learn to tune with all of the support on evom.

take off $400 if you went with stock x IC and piping or just $100 if you went with ets 3" ic but kept the piping
take off $350 if you don't want the CB
take off $80 if you go with the test pipe
take out the $800 for tuning if you do it yourself or take off $400 (best guess) for a mial in tune at ivy or something like that

I've been busy on a different project lately, a Suzuki GS 550 I picked up for $350, so haven't been reading the forums much. Hopefully have the carbs back on by this weekend so I can get it out on the road for the first time.

So yeah, I wasn't far off. I was going off memory on what I recalled spending, new stuff.

Off topic but... DW1000's for $100? where? I'll pick those up and resale em for a bit of profit. lol

If you go with a Depo IC & TP you can shave some cash off those prices too. So doable for $4k with used parts, haggling, and some patience. And of course, doing all the labor yourself.

Yeah Eyedreamt you were impressiely close considering you haven't looked in a while. Apparently prices have remained pretty steady.

Sorry I misquoted the injectors. they were for sale on the post I linked to before for DW1000s and 1300s but I was looking at something else and I got the prices confused. They were $250 not $100.

Either way though that price difference can easily be made up elsewhere are Eye dream said above.

The AGP kit seems like a great option. What size turbo would be equivalent flow wise do you think?

Not positive on the flow rate of the flow rate of the BBX, but I'd say the 5858 would certainly work. The 5931E or even 5831E could probably hit the 400whp goal too, but I'd bump up to the 5858 just got the CEA wheel. It won't be crazy laggy, you can run less PSI than the smaller two for the same power, and also have some wiggle room.

Give Ben @ AGP a call, he is a cool guy, and will happily tell you exactly what you need for your goal. I was looking at bigger more expensive turbos and he talked me down to the 6262 based on my goals. I could probably have gone smaller, but I eventually plan to build the trans and push some real power.

Here is the recipe I used to make 400hp @ "only" 26psi when I had my 2010 RA Sportback

CBRD FMIC $745
CBRD BBX Lite $1865
Evo 10 OEM spark plugs $40
Evo 10 Exhaust manifold $200?
Specialty-Z 02-Downpipe combo $600
Ultimate racing test pipe with mini muffler $250
Stock catback
Injector Dynamic 1000cc injectors $450
BlaqOps fuel pump kit $269
Evo 10 Intercooler pipes $150?
Evo 9 metal BOV $125?
GM 3-port boost solenoid $40
AEM intake $275
Tuned using EcuFlash and Tephra V1 map switch + knock light rom upgrade + PSI-target boost control $500?
E85

Total = $5509

Of course that doesn't include labor

+165 whp / +101wtq

In 3rd vs stock in 3rd

I later added a magnaflow catback ($400) and some tuning and fueling tweaks and made 405whp before I sold the car.

I just realized (forgot rather) that the dyno also plays a factor in whether or not you get the number 400 to show up. On the RRE dyno I "only" made 335hp w/ 320ftlb torque. However, that number was without a base to compare too. So this past weekend, I plugged in the laptop and did a pull so I could compare to the best tune I had on the OEM RA turbo:

On the "Mustang" setting Virtual Dyno shows roughly 365hp, and on the Dynojet setting Virtual Dyno shows 416HP. So, I guess it is possible to get "400HP" with a BBX Lite size turbo on a SST car with pump gas, but it depends on the dyno.

This is on a BBX Lite w/ the following bits:

3" ETS IC
MAP UICP
EvoX LICP
EvoX BPV (crushed)
BBX Lite w/ 22PSI WGA
MXP 2-piece down pipe
RRE 3" hi-flow cat
Magnaflow 3" cat back
GM 3port Boost Control Solenoid
ID 1000cc injectors
DW 65c fuel pump
Innovate LC-1 wideband
K&N drop in panel filter
RRE EvoX turbo to RA stock intake adaptor

virtual dyno has become a common thing- but can be a real ego twister- being made to read super high or low-

we recently had a car tuned by someone else at over 800whp on a VDR plot and it made 627whp on our dyno-

the bbx lite setup bryan had (with his tuning to boost) is a pretty awesome setup with stock like spool-

t3 setups are going to leave about another 1000rpm to be desired for spool up-

Like any setup- you want the best efficiency out of all of the parts to achieve the best performance with the least boost, etc-

that means-

proper downpipe, intercooler (evo X isnt great at all), intake, exhaust, and so on-

one hiccup and the entire performance suffers
